Asked by: Anonymous
Our installation was exactly this. The gas line into the water heater had an extension to the unit.

Lint trap

If one does not use the lint trap properly, by that I mean have it set into the housing, what could happen to the dryer.? Any damage to it? My tenant did this and I want to know if I should charge them for improper usage of the dryer.
Asked by: bootsy
Have multiple stacked W/D in rental property over the years and that lint trap is a big problem for tenants. Not sure exactly "what" the problem is other than they fail to realize the importance of it needing to be cleaned after "every" use and not to empty the lint along side the enclosure. Fact is a large number of house fires are caused by dryer lint and had at least one with evidence of a flash fire around burner can. That can is a full on "open" flame so any renegade lint floating around is subject to catching fire. If you've ever repaired one of these units, its obvious If the trap is not in the housing, lint is subsequently sucked into the fan, housing of which has a foam seal, which can likely begin leaking, circulating lint throughout the dryer encasement.. In another instance, the motor became encased with lint, over heated and caused motor to fail. When opened, the entire interior completely covered with link and amazingly didn't catch fire. And that included the control panel interior. Therefore, the dryer situation is usually operator error. And, as you can see, abusing that lint trap can create problems ranging from failed motors, to the much more serious, a fire. Whether or not you can nail monetary value to the abuse is another question, as over the years simply buy the parts and repair myself. Fact is you can just never trust tenants to maintain them and have to continually check the unit yourself. The front panels are very easy to remove and vacuuming any excess lint and such on a regular basis probably a good idea.

Can this be converted to propane?

Asked by: Donna
It is possible to convert the dryer portion of this stacked appliance from natural gas to liquid propane. You would need to purchase a propane conversion kit. You can inquire further into obtaining this kit by calling The Home Depot/ Whirlpool Corporation hotline at 877.461.3376, Option 2, Option 1. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.

can this be wall mounted to be flush with cabinets? and do away with the frame?

This is for the Maytag staced 2.5 cu. ft washer dryer electric. The base looks like it could kick back more but with removal of the frame the drayer would have to be supported I assume on the wall is this possible? I would like to use next to base kitchen cabinets but with the frame it would kick out, would like it more flush
Asked by: Anonymous
Katee, This unitized washer and dryer is one unit. They cannot be separated or taken out of the casing and still function. It is designed to be an "all in one" appliance. If you are wanting to separate the units, I would suggest looking at a front load washer and dryer. You would purchase the units separately and would have the option to place side by side, on pedestals, or stack them. I have included a couple of washers for you to view. The companion dryer will be on the product page. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.

Stacked 2.5 cu. ft. Washer and 5.9 cu. ft. Gas Dryer in White is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product falls short of Maytag's reputation We previously had a similar stacker unit from another manufacturer, and when it needed replacement, we thought the Maytag unit would be an upgrade. It wasn't. The old machine was cheaper and better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product is nothing like my old ones no. 1, dryer door opens from the left, It is very hard to open the door because of that, door should open from the right, i hit my head every time, and is very hard to open the door, i get very annoyed every time, and the controls are too high, my old machine were little below eye level, am I sorry I purchased them, yes. I should have done little more research, and the big thing that is really annoying is you put on hot and you get warm, you set water level on high and it fills to med.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Things I wish I would have known, I will tell you I had a stackable Maytag for years and loved it. What I wish I would have understood was this is a extremely energy efficient which means it will not wash clothes very well. 1) On a large load the tub only fills about half way ....If you use a screw driver and make the washer work while the door is open you can see that only a small portion of the load is getting agitated with much more stress on the clothes....there is not enough water. I thought it was not working properly....but reading the instructions I find that Maytag made it to work this way. 2) The machine will not let hot water fill it, it dummies it down to warm water...Another terrible feature. ALMOST ALL CLOTHES HAVE SOME SYNTHETICS AND BLEACH WILL ONLY MAKE HOLES EVENTUALLY IN THE CLOTHES, SO HOT WATER IS THE ONLY WAY TO SANITIZE REALLY DIRTY CLOTHES. (you would think Maytag engineers would know this, but it seems obvious they never had to clean a load of dirty laundry) My husband is a carpenter and gets grease, tar sap etc. on his jeans and also sweats. How will I get his clothes clean now? No water, no heat. Good question. I turned up my hot water heater WAY UP, in hopes I may get some hot water in the washing machine. How much energy am I saving now? I also use EXTRA buckets of water to help the load wash. I mainly will be doing twice the wash. I will be forced to do small loads on full. Many more loads to try and get really dirty clothes clean. I am so disappointed in Maytag. I can't return this machine and now am stuck with it. I don't think the motor will last that long because of the pressure to try to agitate clothes with barely any water. I didn't have the space to buy something different, but I wish I had found a different brand that didn't have these stupid features. AND I am not 6 feet tall and find the operating knobs a foot above my head....what a stupid place to put them. SUMMARY..... Maytag took A WONDERFUL, EFFICIENT old style washer made it VERY INEFFICIENT TO CLEAN CLOTHES, squashed it down and made it slightly bigger on the outside, shorter and the operating knobs in the sky. I am beyond disappointed, I am mad to have thrown my money away on this ridiculous excuse for a washing machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Maytag stacked gas pair! I have had my Maytag for about 6 weeks and it's just great. I have had two gas and two electric bills since installation and the cost-effectiveness of the new unit is noteworthy. My gas bill has not gone up a cent and my electric bill is down. The dryer sensor is right on, wash and dry cycles are quick, and I have plenty of wash choices. I am very happy with this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with Maytag stackable gas washer/dryer I was worried that it would not be big enough for my needs, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much the washer/dryer holds. (I bought the 27 inch model instead of the 24 inch.) It's quiet and efficient, and while I've only had it installed for a week, I am very satisfied with the purchase - from start to finish.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as expected I have owned many Maytags over the years and this is the first disappointment. While the new one piece stacker is more energy efficient on both gas and water, it is extremely noisy, the washer is no where near the capacity I expected given the dimensions (but without a floor model to examine prior to purchase) and the water does not fill all of the way when set on large load. The tub only fills to about half capacity. Overall, I am keenly disappointed wishing I had purchased the Kenmore instead. I sincerely wish I had my Maytag wringer back. I would have made major changes to my laundry room to accommodate the wringer. Never gave me one ounce of trouble.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First stackable I have ever purchased and owned. It cleans m Like having the different wash settings. Like the fact that it cleans the clothes so well. Washer capacity is decent as well. Gas dryer feature works well too.
