Answer:
Tropicana is not a climbing rose, but is my go-to rose since the '60's when it was a Rose of the Year. The fragrance is strong, the color a great salmon/coral. There are many varieties and colors of climbing roses. They grow to various heights so you will want ones that will match the size of your trellises. If you want to add drama, purple clematis could climb along with the roses!

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by disappointed The color and shape of the flower tell me that this is not Rose Tropicana. Very disappointed. July 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tropicana Rose hass rosie red blooms I was so excited to buy this Tropicana rose bare root as I have tried to find one reasonably price for years. I planted in a container and it produced 3 large blooms. My only question is Why are the RED? Tropicana should be Orange, not rosy red. Is this truly a Tropicana? I also ordered a Peace rose at the same time and it bloomed true to color and had a wired tag on the base of the trunk. The Tropicana did not come with a wired tag on it, just a picture of the rose in the bottom of the box. I see they are no longer available to order on line so I will just keep this lovely Red Rose and wonder what it is. Next year I will order another Tropicana and hopefully receive the Orange rose. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good investment Plant arrived in good and healthy conditions. It was well packaged with the item's picture. The stalks appeared strong and very much alive. Planted it 3 weeks ago. Can't wait to see how well it'll take off and blossom over the summer... Will buy again from online Home Depot. May 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tropicana Rose When I purchased this famous rose at the Home Depot in March it was vigorous, and starting to form leaf buds. You can imagine my amazement when I noticed this same rose in full bloom at another store a few miles away in early May. The price tag was more than five times higher than at Home Depot. Here is my "scientific" review of 'Tropicana'. Flowers: buds deep orange-red, slow to expand, expanded corolla medium to large, form excellent; red-orange color carries a good distance in landscape; fragrance intense rose. Leaves: deep green. Stems: stout, erect. No real problems with 'Tropicana', just look for harmful insects every other day or so. May 18, 2010
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the Rose; can't wait for it to bloom. I planted the rose plant a couple of weeks ago. Already it's sprouting leaves and growing like crazy. It's such a joy to watch it grow. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but it's too early to say how well overall the plant will do. So far, I'm very pleased with it and can't wait for it to bloom. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Color! I absolutely love the color of this rose! It is a gorgeous salmon-coral color. The blooms are large, lightly fragrant, and, did I mention the color? It is certainly not one you see everyday. The only reason I did not give it 5-stars is because mine seems to be a bit stingy with the number of blooms, but it could be because I've only had it for 2 years. Want something other than the standard red or pink? Then get this one! By the way, I live in NC, zone 7. May 8, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality of the Tropicana is excellent; very healthy I am pleased with the quality of the rose. I planted it soon after arrival and it is doing well. April 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best rose for fragrance and color. These roses were delivered in perfect condition. They were planted and now have buds and I can't wait for the buds to open. The fragrance of the Tropicana rose is remarkably wonderful and the color is a coral color; absolutely beautiful! May 7, 2013
