Q:Accuracy

Answer This Question
A: Not sure on what it claims is the accuracy. But the unit was worthless to me as it got measurements WAY wrong at least 1/3 of the time. I could measure the same exact thing and get 3 different results. Spend $40 for the entry level Bosch and be happy.

A: seems fairly accurate but you need a solid target, not just a framed wall. only 45' range not good for estimating anything sizable.

Basic estimating tool
This tool is made by Bosch so you have the quality name behind the product. It appears to be their budget brand, Measure Master. So the price is affordable, but it has a lot of limitations.
The tool is easy to use, and does the basic functions of estimating. It really only has 3 functions: Temperature, Measure (estimating to nearest inch), and calculator (for area and volume).
The 4 things it can do: Temperature. Measures room/area temperature when powered on. Seems to be quite accurate.
Estimate Length: You select the type of measurements you are making (length, surface, volume). The display only shows to the nearest inch, so this is an estimator, not a measuring tool. While it was fairly accurate, it can be off by as much as an inch. I found it off an inch on occasion.
Estimate Surface and Volume: For these types of calculations, you select that function, and measure twice or thrice, and it uses your measurements to calculate the surface or volume and displays both the length of each measurement and the surface/volume calculation on the display.
Tool can track and store multiple measurements. Has a carry pouch and Velcro belt loop. You can recall previous measurements up to 10 (like a Memory feature on a calculator).
But it has its limits. It can only go to 45 feet. If you go over 35 feet, you need to have a 9 foot by 9 foot surface to shoot against (with the ultrasound); it uses a 9-volt battery (I prefer AA); it is an ultrasonic measuring tool, not a laser measuring tool; instructions are hard to read because they reference numbers on a diagram that is at a different page (lots of page-flipping).
Overall, a budget tool. Probably for light-duty simple estimating of materials for a job (flooring, paint, drywall). If you do anything beyond basic, occasional estimating, then I recommend you pay a lot more for a laser measuring tool by Bosch.

Handy little device
It is light, looks nice and is pretty easy to use to measure lengths of rooms. It also comes with a bright case you can put on your belt. I had a bit of a problem getting it to measure volume but maybe that is just me. I'm only really interested in measure room lengths anyway. I haven't actually had a chance to measure the room with a tape measure yet and compare it to this but it seems to give the right dimension.

Not bad for the price.
I got this tool for 6.50 at Home Depot on a steep discount so I can't go very wrong with this. It was the last one and most likely discontinuing the whole product line. Seems like a well built tool and comes with a nice pouch. Like everyone has said it's not real accurate and I can never really trust it so I'm not sure what good it is. But for 6.50, well it was priced about right. At full price I would be taking it back.

Not worth the money
At first, it seemed to work ok, but then I noticed that measurements seemed to be off. I tested it and found 1 to 3 feet errors on distances of 20 feet. Sometimes it would be WAY off, like 1/2 of what the real measurement was. Kind of like a calculator. If you never know when it will be wrong, you may as well throw it away. Spend the extra money and get the low end Bosch for $40.

It works!
It works as it was designed. No problem so far. It would help if you could see the laser beam

"Distance Estimator" perfect product name
This "distance estimator" is exactly that, an estimator. My blind grandmother can gauge a distance better than this item. Even though it had a "target", the "ultrasonic cone" may be as much as 9' by the time it hits the wall. Have a chair somewhere along the path that might intersect that cone, you may/will get a bad read or error. How many of use or measuring empty rooms. Junk. I cheaped out and will now be returning to by a real laser tape. What use is a measuring tool if you can't trust it?
