Seriously people, do not waste your time here. This laser kit is not worth $29 let alone $99, the problem is the cheap flimsy housing that when you adjust or level flexes showing untrue results. I used it to try to line up a top and bottom plate, I should have just used a plumb bob and been done in 5 minutes. I am returning this to HD today.

This unit can be difficult to level as mentioned. But the levels on the unit are "true". I bought this unit for leveling the ground for an above ground. Pounded some stakes in the ground, put the rotary laser in center of area. Leveled the rotary laser Turned on the rotary laser, and was wa la each stake had a laser line showing me where to run my string.
Now I knew when I bought this unit that I'd have to wait to use it outside until the sun was slipping below the tree line. No big deal. Inside there is no problem using it any time of day, provided curtains are closed.
No this unit isn't as great as "high dollar" unit with the self leveling functions. However this unit (once level) is just as "true" as high dollar unit. The biggest difference is that this unit will take time to level. But I have the patience and perseverance to take the time to level this unit to save myself a few hundred dollars.
In my line of work I have used many kinds kinds of laser levels and rotary lasers. There's a lot of different "makes and models". This unit is high quality compared to many units... but is also not as convenient as some of the higher priced models. But this unit does get the job done, and does it with accuracy.
I don't regret my purchase and don't plan on returning the unit. Why return a accurate unit when it's just as accurate as the more expensive models... it's just less convenient in terms of manual leveling vs auto leveling. I will use this unit when I tackle the task of building my 60'X96' pole barn.
I tested the accuracy of this unit before I put it to work. I tested it against a Bosch. And once this unit was level it overlapped the laser line of a self leveling Bosch. This is why I say this unit is just as good as the high price models.
I wouldn't use this unit if I were a contractor or another job where "time is money". But this unit is great for a homeowner or handyman who wants something reliable and accurate without spending to much.
I have read a lot of negative reviews and great reviews on this rotary laser. I noticed that most negative reviews were because they didn't like manual leveling process. It's actually not to bad to level. It can be tricky, but not impossible. I wouldn't return a unit that works as advertised.
I'd buy the same unit again if something happens to this unit outside of warranty.

Very difficult to level. Poor design with cattycorner leveling wheels and the bubble levels grouped together in one corner. Plus the accuracy is about half as good as comparable models (7/16 in 50 feet vs. 1/4th) I took it back the same day.

I have been using this Laser level around my home w/ some success.I believe the laser shoots an accurate line. However this is not a contractors grade level. Wobbles a bit when spinning but works great as a guide for what ever one might shoot. also outside very hard to see in day light works better inside or when dark. Its not great but has its uses in my home.

I bought this to level on old barn floor.
I have used professional scanning laser levels before and had very good results but this unit was a waste of time and money.
It is very hard to level using the vials and leveling screws. The leveling screw system is sticky so the motion is jumpy. Once you get it level even pushing the on/off button can move it out of level.
Save your money and use a water level. More accurate and easier or a professional quality scanning laser.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dundee Horizontal or vertical mount 360-degree laser level with many options
This laser level is a good buy. It comes with a tripod and red glasses for better viewing of the laser line. Also, it has a nice carrying case that holds everything, including the expandable tripod. You have a lot of options for setting up the leveling. Each leg has two expandable extensions. On the top of the level are two bubbles for getting the laser line precisely level. Also, you can attach the side of unit to send the laser beam vertically rather than horizontally. The unit can be attached to the larger tripod connector or the smaller connector. There is an adapter on the tripod to switch to the smaller connector which could be useful on other equipment or cameras. You can manually rotate the laser beam 360 degrees or set it to spin. It has an option to increase or decrease the rate of the rotation spin. The light was bright enough inside to get a level line for tiling a bathroom that I didn't need to use the red glasses, but they would be helpful in daylight.

The most important thing that a "level" should do is stay level. This tool ,gadget, does not. As already reported, it is so difficult to get it level in the first place and then you better not breath on it when you do get it level. Not even for home use.
