Customer Questions & Answers

Is it self leveling?

Is it self leveling?
Asked by: Gretchen
No. It is the most complicated, finicky rotary laser to level. I suggest investing in a good unit that does self level.

How do you remove the base to secure it to drywall for leveling ceilings?

50 ft. Horizontal/Vertical Rotary Laser Level Kit (4-Piece) is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home hobby shop at best I bought this to level on old barn floor. I have used professional scanning laser levels before and had very good results but this unit was a waste of time and money. It is very hard to level using the vials and leveling screws. The leveling screw system is sticky so the motion is jumpy. Once you get it level even pushing the on/off button can move it out of level. Save your money and use a water level. More accurate and easier or a professional quality scanning laser.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Batteries included There are a ton of uses for this tool. (As noted by previous reviewers, so I won't list them all again) I've used mine to level built in bookcases, hanging pictures and to align 2x4's for building in my back porch..It does take some time to set it up (getting all the bubbles level) but the results are worth it..Comes complete with everything you need..Batteries, a nice tripod, and a well made storage bag..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not waste your time here. Seriously people, do not waste your time here. This laser kit is not worth $29 let alone $99, the problem is the cheap flimsy housing that when you adjust or level flexes showing untrue results. I used it to try to line up a top and bottom plate, I should have just used a plumb bob and been done in 5 minutes. I am returning this to HD today.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Well thought out package starts with a foam protected bag, to an oversized thumbscrew to hold the double D batteries, which are included. The only weak point is the elevation crank on the tripod; the mounting screw is awkwardly small for such a large and heavy unit, but once it's secure, it's solidly secure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNK Very difficult to level. Poor design with cattycorner leveling wheels and the bubble levels grouped together in one corner. Plus the accuracy is about half as good as comparable models (7/16 in 50 feet vs. 1/4th) I took it back the same day.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it... Well, I have used some really good units and this is clearly a DIY affordable unit. I received mine for general use around the house and after setup, I felt it was not worth the time to try and even get it to read level with the bubble. The tripod is a waste and not very well built...your camera tripod is likely better...even your child's telescope tripod could be better than the one provided...I was not impressed. Every moment you touch the dials to adjust for level, it's sensitive enough to go out of level just by turning dials and once you remove a finger it's out of level again. Plus, my unit appears to have a good amount of wobble in the laser head that it may be outside of any possibility to even make level since it does not auto level like so many other brands out there. If you are looking for some red goggles to use with your other laser equipment, this unit provides them...and if you are looking for a frustration free unit I would invest in a more expensive, self leveling unit and let this one find another home. It's just not worth the time to setup compared to so many others on the market that can be purchased on a small budget if you have your own, decent tripod. Try it if you like because the price is tempting, but I'm sure frustration is likely. I'll stick with my trusty units and use this one to teach patience and proper use of a laser level to responsible individuals willing to learn a trade...once they learn that, they will certainly appreciate what the almighty dollar will afford you and understand that tools purchased for longevity are an investment to support family. I'll probably use this as a loaner when my buddies ask to borrow my good rotary lasers.
