Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good lever for the DIYer I have several laser levels and they vary greatly in price and quality. This particular unit is at a good price for the home user and the ability to attach it to a wall or tile make it very handy. I used this to hang a few pictures, the wife is more than picky when it comes to them being straight and the results were good. I also tried it in my bathroom to line up the ends of some glass shelves I was installing and it secured well to the tiles. Overall not a bad unit and you won't go broke in the process. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Godd for DIY To make it clear from the beginning, this multi-functional laser level is directed to the DIY customer, not the professional. It isn't a bad product at all and much cheaper than the professional tools. With it's four different attachments, the laser can be attached to drywall, smooth surfaces, and metal objects. It can also be used with angles. It has a backlit vial to make sure the laser is level. Checking wit a larger level will increase accuracy. The laser is not as strong as on professional tools but will be sufficient for your home projects. September 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent for small jobs This laser level is decent for small jobs. I've used it to put up a small shelf, lining up some portraits, and hang decorations in my daughter's bedroom. The suction cups do a good job of holding the level up on smooth surfaces (glass or tile) and may work on walls if the paint is smooth enough. I have not used the attachment with the 2 small pins in it as I do not want to deal with covering up the tiny holes in the wall. Instead, when it came time to use the laser on drywall, I separated the magnetic attachment from the compass and was able to get it to hold on a drywall screw that just so happened to be in the right spot. It would be absolutely awesome if the magnetic attachment had a third, more powerful magnet in the middle to facilitate operations like this. The quality of the laser unit is pretty good at this price point. The laser is pretty bright and the body has held up to a few drops. I like that the bubble levels light up when you turn the unit on. I do wish that the hash marks were a little closer together so as to ensure a higher degree of accuracy. Unfortunately, the magnetic attachment isn't too great. The first time I dropped it (4 feet or so), both magnets popped out. Had to glue them back in place. If you need an inexpensive laser level for small jobs around the house, this is a good buy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Versatile hands free options Laser levels are great for running a line long distance. This level comes with several options to be able to keep both hands free to mark the line while running it, so you can work alone. Press and hold the power button to keep the laser on without having to hold it. The drywall/wood holder makes two thumbtack size holes in the surface so best to use on unfinished walls. The suction cup holder works quite well on glass and metal. I attached mine to a wall mirror to run a line to hang a wall shelf adjacent to the mirror. The magnetic holder has two excellent magnets. Only the magnetic laser holder attaches to the protractor, but you can prop it against wall and floor corners and the protractor also has split tabs on each point that you can put tacks or nails through to attach it to a drywall/wood surface. I believe the magnetic holder and protractor will attach to a tripod for mid-room use too, but I don’t have one to test. The laser line can travel several feet but can get blocked by just slightly raised surfaces in its path. The guide line on the laser case is on the top which is raised away from the surface you put it against. I’d prefer if the entire front end had a pointed shape or center ridge so I could more easily line it up to a wall height mark. The instructions are just sketches. Tips and tricks would help some people. I am already getting a lot of use out of this handy level and accessories. Good value. November 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice for typical DIY Not too much to say about this level. It has a laser than can project across small to medium sized rooms and remains visible even in bright daylight (indoors). It has two bubble levels that will be as accurate as the time you take to get the bubble in the exact space you want...if you're ok with the bubble not being exactly in the middle between the lines then you need to be ok with whatever you're working on not being perfectly level. The included attachments allow mounting the device to different surface types. My complaint is that you must first level the laser and then attach it (and hope it stays aligned). I would rather be able to attach the device to the wall or floor and then rotate it as needed to achieve level or plumb. I had several instances of having it lined up only to slightly move when I pushed the suction cups or pins into place. Overall you will get a good entry to mid level product with this device that has good basic functionality. September 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for small projects Love this tool. So many times, I have to hang pictures or put up a shelf by myself and it’s almost impossible to hold the ruler/level and mark. This little tool will stay in place by its self with the pins in one holder or the suction cups on the other holder. I haven’t tried the angle holder yet. I’ve actually only used the pins in sheet rock. The laser unit is small, about 3.5 inches, and comes ready to use out of the box. The lighted bubbles certainly help see the bubble to aid in getting the line level. I had a little trouble getting it to stay at exact level but for my needs it is “close enough” It probably would not be a good tool if you wanted to level a whole floor or wall. I’m thinking that there will be other uses in my sewing room that vary from the traditional uses for this tool. I’m giving it 5 stars because for short distances and for use with hanging pictures it’s great and that met my expectations. If I were a contractor and needed a super accurate laser, it would get a lower score. The price point is good for the DIY user. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Versatile Tool – Great Value! As an avid DIYer I’ve used a variety of inexpensive level-laser tools, but this one is more impressive than others I have used. Setup is completely intuitive, with arrows on the tool components that indicate the proper direction to install the laser to the accessory. The pre-installed battery sits in a compartment, easily accessible for replacement. The set includes accessories to vertically mount the laser on sheetrock, wood and wallpaper (even embossed paper), or to lay horizontally for tile-setting, etc. I was impressed that the “pin” wall mount accessory stayed affixed to my heavily embossed wallpaper, but was disappointed that the pins left marks in the paper that will need to be covered (see picture). The “suction cup” wall mount accessory worked well to adhere to wood cabinetry and similar surfaces (see picture), but was not so dependable on sheetrock, where it usually detached from the surface. The pin accessory will work on sheetrock – but then again, it leaves small pinholes to be patched. If you’re using this to hang pictures, expect a little extra work to clean up the wall. The protractor accessory requires dismantling (unscrewing one screw and then reassembling it) in order to attach the laser – not a big deal, but presents an opportunity for small parts to get lost (see picture). Otherwise, it is a nicely designed accessory, having small detents built-in at standard angles to assist with setting the radius in dimly lit areas, and has two small cleats built-in to each end to accommodate wall mounting of the protractor using pushpins or tacks. Although I have not attempted to measure the accuracy of the protractor, the plastic construction suggests that a user will want to double check the measurements by alternate means before relying on it exclusively, especially since tiny differences are magnified over long distances. The laser was easily visible in my partly sunny kitchen for at least 30 feet (see picture), and would probably be seen much further away, but I don’t have a larger area to test this. Although it is a small device and made of plastic, the laser is very impressive and the mounting accessories improve its usefulness immensely. The compact size is a virtue, allowing you to store the laser in the top tray of your toolbox. The price point makes this a terrific value. The fact that it’s made under the Bosch label with a 1 year warranty, almost makes it a steal. I’m really happy I got this, and would recommend it to a friend. September 9, 2015
