Last night was my first time using a drain bladder style clog remover, I've used the standard snake-style cleaner on many previous occasions.
I had a persistent clog in the drain under a kitchen sink and tried four times to snake the drain, each time sending 8 feet or so of snake into the drain under the kitchen sink. Each time I disassembled the trap under the sink, snaked directly into the line and then reassembled the trap. The drain remained clogged even after four tries.
So I went to Home Depot last night and bought the medium drain bladder (which fit perfectly the 1 1/2 inch drain) and followed the directions. I was able to feed it past a couple of 45 degree bends before pressurizing it. I ran water through it at full blast for about a minute, pulled it out and put everything back together and now the drain is clear.
Thanks for an effective, inexpensive and easy-to-use product!

I was dubious that this drain bladder would work, but the concept was intriguing: buy the correct size for your pipe, attach it to a garden hose, feed it down the clean-out as far as it will go, and open the water faucet to fill the bladder with water. The water fills the bladder and expands to hold the bladder snugly inside the pipe. Then the water bursts out of the bladder through a small opening at high pressure to blast away the blockage. The verdict: it worked for me. The hose went in about as far as the pipe snake had, but after blasting the blockage for 20 minutes or so, I was able to feed the bladder in to about twice as far. I blasted for another 20 minutes. It's hard to say if the entire blockage was cleared because I suspect the old cast iron pipe has a lot of internal corrosion and at some point the hose would not be ridged enough to continue feeding into the pipe. However, it's been a week now and the sewer is still flowing. Bladder Control!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Juan23 Great tool for the price
This little tool packs a big punch on clogged drains and lines. Has saved me time and money over calling a plumber to unclog kitchen and floor drains. They are however a bit sensitive and tend to burst easily on certain applications. Still a good tool for the price and the fact that it comes in three different sizes is a plus.

It really works, expect a little water to back up and splash before the bladder balloons. Easy remedy is to have a towel wrapped against the pipe to minimize water leakage.

Tenants can be rough on drains. This little tool works a miracle on the toughest clogs. It saves me a ton of money since I don't need to call a Plumber.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by stolz Works Great- wish I had tried it before I dragged the snake out!
This thing worked great. I spent hours snaking out my kitchen sink with a power auger. I got in about 25 feet and could not get it around a bend. It was totally clogged. Also tried 2 bottle of drain cleaner and was about to call a plumber in. As a last ditch effort i tried this and within 5 minutes the sink was draining better than it has in years.
Tip: I bought a hose valve and short length of hose to attach to the bladder. This way I was able to control the pressure at the drain location (hose was connected to outside supply). This also allowed me to reposition the bladder to get a good seal.
