Customer Questions & Answers

HOw do I attach this rail to the bathtub and is it secure

I want to get Mom a bathtub rail and I want to make sure it attaches by suction or clamps and can we move it anywhere on the tub? Is it make of steel or aluminum?
Asked by: Nanoose
It was easy to install. You will have to install it leaving room to enter and exit the tub without 'hitting' it. The clamp on mine slipped the first time I used it and it did catch me off guard since I had checked it from the outside of the tub. It's okay now but I do make sure it's tight from the inside of the tub whenever I need to use it. It's metal with the exception of the handle that you turn to tighten it ... that is plastic.

can this be used with a shower door installed on tub rail

Asked by: john
yes but you wouldn't be able to close door, unless you put it as far back as possible, the rails wont be damaged, but you would have about 18" of open door

Customer Reviews

14 in. Tall x 1 in. Dia Stainless Steel Bathtub Safety Rail in White is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Impressed Naturally - I was very skeptical of purchasing this item online given what it is expected to do and the environment it is being used. My wife is battling brain cancer and lung cancer and I am doing everything I can do to help her maintain as much independence as possible. After reading the reviews I felt confident enough to give it a try. I am extremely Impressed with every aspect of this Safety Rail. The construction is absolutely sturdy without question. The installation is even sturdier with no give, no play and no slipping whatsoever. If, like me, youare not quite sure about trusting the safety of someone you love dearly with this item - I promise you that you will be so relieved after purchasing this safety rail!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy and easily installed! As a health professional who specializes in geriatric care, I have a significant amount of experience with adaptive and durable medical equipment such as this tub rail. I purchased and installed this tub rail for my grandmother who just needed some extra support when stepping in and out of the tub. Along with a non-skid bath mat, she is able to get in and out of her tub easily, safely and with confidence! Extremely easy installation and she loves that it can be removed if needed or when she decides to sell her home in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A well made product This tub attachment, is so sturdy and makes you feel secure, as your getting into the tub or leaving. The railing part is a good size, to grab onto. The part that attaches to the tub is well made also. Love it! And everyone who uses our shower will too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product It is made of very strong material, it is very easy to install and extremely practical and useful. The price is grate. I will recommend anyone to have one installed int heir bathtub. I installed it in my whirlpool bathtub where oils are used and the walls are relatively high or tall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right tool for the task The safety rail arrived at my local Home Depot within 5 days. Easy, no cost shipping. No assembly required. The rail fits snugly over the side of the bathtub without risk of marring the porcelain. Tightens quickly and securely but can be removed just as easily. Although my bathroom is already handicapped accessible, my 91-year-old mom likes to take a bath occasionally. The shower rails are positioned too high for her to safely ease herself into the tub. This safety rail gives her the added support she needs for both entering and exiting the tub. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Economical, Sturdy and Simple I paid $100 for the apartment complex where I live to install grab rails beside my tub. They would not put them horizontally on the tub itself nor on the tile, but only on the wall beside the tub, and thus, vertically. When I tried to use them to get out of the tub, my wet hands just slid down the vertical rails, my wet feet slid along the bathmat, and I got no help at all. There was nothing on which I could push down to boost myself up. Then I found this product for under $50. All I had to do was place it over the edge of the tub and tighten the screw. It is sturdy and provides a horizontal hand grip that I can push down on to get out of the tub. It can easily be removed for cleaning or to reposition. I wish I had known about this product before I spent that $100 on the wall-mounted rails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected... We knew it was overdue. We kept putting it off. The expense! The hassle! The mess! We needed grab bars in the tub and didn't want to undertake a major renovation of the otherwise perfectly serviceable tub. Then I found these tub rails and bought two. We use them with every shower and they make a HUGE difference. My husband, the engineer, is thoroughly impressed with their quality construction and solid feel. He's 6'2" and over 200 lbs. and is the major reason we needed more stability on the slippery floor. He's very pleased and there was no plaster dust involved :^)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product has given me a lot of comfort & confidence in safely getting out of our tub. Both my fiancee and I are mildly disabled (back issues, Lupus) and having this extra security in entering & exiting the tub is a real treat. I'd definitely recommend using this if like us your bathroom walls will not handle traditional grab bars.
