Questions & Answers

What size hose will fit this? My hose is 3/4". Need to know if I will have to buy new hose.

Asked by: Cheri
The fitting on the end of a garden hose is usually the same no matter the hose size. I would say that it will fit.

Leaking when connected to hose, help!

I connect this connector to a hose and it's leaking water. What can I do to stop water from leaking between the connector and the hose? Thanks.
Asked by: Evergeen
Best bet, is to use the Teflon tape(The "white" or "gray/grey(Depending where you are from, spelling is different.)" colored thin stretchy tape, that some of us used to get in to our father's toolboxes or down in his garage and play with the tape, since it seems really neat/cool to us.(LOL) But, use a fairly thick amount(But obviously don't need to over do it, though. lol), to make sure you have enough. Plus, to help get the threads on easier, leave the tip of the threads clean of the tape, to help get the threads to match first, so you don't cross-thread them. Which does tend to ruin the faucets/spigot's and/or the connection, that you spin around the threads on the spigot/faucet. Make sure you firmly tighten the "nut", but do NOT over-tighten, or you can strip the threads. The spinning "nut" with the black rubber covering is kinda thin, but it should have no trouble holding up. Also, I just slipped the black covering down, when I used a pair of adjustable pliers, to make sure the end was tightened firmly. I did NOT put a ton of pressure on it, just until it felt firm. Then I just slipped the black covering back up, so I didn't damage it. I did try to use a second washer, but my spigot/faucet opening is a bit too open, to press on second washer, which it collapsed & slipped up in the spigot/faucet outlet. So, best to just use the Teflon tape, would be easy to use(I have found, if you put the tape on the threads and spin the tape along the threads, as if you are putting a nut on them, while keeping the tape tight against the threading. It helps keep the tape from backing-off, after installing it.).

will this connect to kitchen faucet and if so do i need any adaptors

will this connect to kitchen faucet and if so do i need any adaptors
Asked by: jim
Ok, this is a 2 answer deal, due to if it is just the hose, then answer would be "No.", but, if you get the adapter, then it is a possible "Yes.". The threading on this is "course" threading, while on your kitchen faucet has a "fine" thread, they don't match-up. Now, there is an adapter, but they do come separately. You can go to your local store and ask for the "Faucet adapter for hose.". Should have no problem, then.

Can I use this connector the other way around? I mean two in and one out?

Asked by: Esi
You would have to purchase male to female adaptors to achieve this.

I've used several of these over the years and they work better than their counterparts.  I really like how it allows a constant connection for both a timed watering system and a more conventional coiled hose without needing to disconnect and reconnect to the spigot.  I like them so much I put one on each of my three outdoor spigots.  On one spigot, to get a proper seal I needed to use a pressure relief valve before this connector, but that is an inherent problem with my pressure and not the product.  On both other spigots they perform exceptionally well without this valve. The product is heavy-duty, well-made, and durable.  They've survived the last two years of routine use without issue beyond an annual replacement of the internal rubber washer which I do every season for routine maintenance.  This product is worth the extra price compared to its counterparts.  Great quality, great price, good value.

The valves are metal balls and plastic seals. The rubber seal that is the inlet gasket is of good quality also. The valve actuation levers easily open and close the valves with pressure on the inlet side and no pressure on the outlet sides. The rubber covered inlet connector is easy to grip and turn. I have no reservations in recommending this wye connector/valve for outdoor water hydrant/faucet use. Just be sure to remove it, or open the valves with no hose attached during the winter, to avoid freezing and bursting with water contained within the valve body, if the valves are left closed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does okay We recently bought this in hopes we could water potted plants at the same time the sprinkler was on. Unfortunately, we have to choose one or the other. However, it is a good hardy design and allows us to divert the flow of the water from the sprinkler to the sprayer without have to remove heads or hoses. We'll be keeping it.

I installed this in order to be able to run a hose out to my garden to water it at night. Used it about 10 times and now it has a hole in it. Even though it was cheap, I was hoping it would have lasted longer than it did.
