I bought this thing in order for me to have a quick disconnect to my pressure washer... I did not realize that once you disconnect the hose, you no longer get water out. Not what I expect but that feature definitely works... if that is what you are looking for. Further the rubber part for you fingers that is used to tighten your hose with slipped. I had to cut that off with a razor knife in order to remove the hose. Other than those two items the unit is fine. Remember, if you disconnect what ever it is you are attaching the end of the hose, no water will come out until you remove this off the end of your hose.

The rubber grip comes loose & spins after a couple of uses so it is difficult to tighten it to the hose fitting. Also, you will be lucky if the fittings make it make it through a season's use. The soft aluminum male insert does not mesh well with the female receiver as any nicks or scratches make connecting them difficult (very aggravating when hands are wet). They need to go back to real steel or brass materials (like those once made in America). Most people would pay a REASONABLE premium for quality products that last. The American consumer is getting ripped off not only by having to buy the same worthless products over and over again but also in terms of lost productivity in having to make more trips to the store. Home Depot buyers: WISE UP!!!

I have several and they all connect securely with no leakage, or very little leakage--certainly far less than connecting a gardening tool (nozzle, sprinkler) directly on to a hose. It makes changing watering implements fast and convenient. Understand, these will wear over time and will need to be replaced occasionally. That said, they are quite inexpensive and make changing out water tools from the hose extremely fast and convenient. I expect I'll get a couple, maybe three years from them, possibly longer, and I'll be quite pleased if they last that long (2-3 years) with the high usage I put them through.

My first impression was that this product was manufactured from cheaper metal with a brass-like coating (obviously not solid brass) and I was concerned about the quality. I have to admit that I am impressed with the performance easy connect and disconnect with no leaks what so ever. the cost is about 75% less than a similar product sold in a local hardware store. I purchased this to replace solid brass (but leaking) couplings which are quite a few years old. I would definitely buy this product again. As to it's longevity...the jury is still out as we've only been using it for a few days. It appears to be a good value for the price.

This product has cheesy rubberized parts that break off especially on the male part. I use them to quickly disconnect hoses when we're about to have a freeze. It has a valve that keeps water from coming out when disconnected. While this may be well intentioned, it would trap water at the hose bib if you forget to turn the bib off. Then your hose bib may freeze. Plus it leaks when in use. Whatever happened to nice brass ones without a valve?

But then I got one solely to serve as a swivel, and found it to be quite useful. I punched out the little piston inside that seals it up when you disconnect it. Now I can get full flow from the hose by simply popping off the nozzle - much more useful than having it shut off. I ended up getting a couple of extra male ends for sprinklers etc, and now everything just pops on and off.

It does not leak, and the brass lasts and wears well. Make sure the washer is in the female side when you purchase it (if you are in the store). After you use it for a while, you may need to spray a lubricant on the female side as continued use with hard water will make it a bit more difficult to pull the connector release back to disengage the male side.

This product may eventually turn out to be useful, but I can't figure out how it works. If one part attaches to the faucet, and the other snaps in from the hose, then it might work, but when just the one part is on the faucet, water is blocked from coming out. You want something like the old Melnor system, where you can still use the faucet without the hose. The set does appear sturdy, however.
