Answer:
No, you need the smaller size for an air compressor, probably 1/4" or 3/8". This fits on a garden hose with 5/8" hose threads. Plus, it would not be airtight.

Answer:
John-R the 1.97 quick connectors are not made of durable material. They look like brass but are likely brass coated aluminum because the wore too quickly on my garden faucet. Get a compressor connector made for air compressors in the tools department. Seen in the photograph, there are two different connector configurations that I am aware of.

Answer:
Hi John-R,
The Melnor 45c quick connect coupling is only intended for use with water hose.
Air compressor fittings use pipe thread sizes. Compressors use their own unique quick couplings.
The Home Depot offers a wide variety of these couplings.
Water hoses are also unique and standard, but they are different than air.

Answer:
Actual hose diameter isn't important. These fittings have standard 3/4" hose threads. Anything sold as a garden hose will have the same. Be aware that 3/4" "hose thread" is not the same as 3/4" "pipe thread"

Answer:
Howdy Busybee,
This is for 3/4 inch hoses and the connectors are 5/8 inch.
While this is possible, it would be advisable to check your local Home Depot for parts to make it work.

Answer:
I doubt it. Pressure washers typically use a different sized coupling. Home depot should have them in the pressure washer area, though the bins can get a bit disheveled. I think the standard hose fittings lack the ability to handle the extra pressure.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 108 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ok but not great I was excited to purchase the metal disconnects so that I did not have to keep unscrewing my watering wand, spray nozzle, and my osculating sprinkler. I added the disconnects to my sprinkler and my watering wand and found that they work with ease and I do not have to shut the water off every time I want to switch a tool. The problem that I have come across is that they are not always water tight. I have found because of the sloppiness of the connection, sometimes water does leak from the connectors. The water is not leaking bad enough for me to return the connectors just yet, but if they do continue leaking, I will be returning them. All in all, I am happy with the convenience of the connectors but I am unhappy that they leak. August 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Better than the last one It appears over the years the quality of this type of item has dropped dramatically no matter where you get them. They used to be solid and machined well and durable. They are now made out of a much cheaper material that needs to be replaced much more often. At least the new ones I picked up don't leak like the previous ones did. Time will tell how long until the inside edge gets pitted again and begins to leak once again. I recommend it just becaus there aren't really any better ones at either of the big box stores that are any better. I found that mixing from different stores doesn't work very well either. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase ever! This is the best quick coupler i have ever purchased, i really like the fact that it stops water flow while switching attachments without having to turn off the spicket or purchase an additional water flow valve. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy connect. Snap on or Switch another device. Wanted to attach a wand sprayer and also use sprinkler too. Best of both. August 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy into this system . . . I bought a bunch about 8 years ago and I find that I replace them every year or two. They were originally made better and over the years, I feel as if the already poor quality is suffering even more making these fittings pretty close to garbage. New for 2016 - seems they chose a cheaper metal and it almost seems as if the stopper on the female is plastic. The rubber parts are molded on low knurls and constantly slip off. A little extra attention to the design would make a fantastic product but it seems they are more interested in squeezing pennies out of the cost than make a product that will survive year after year. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a Great Connector! What a great connector! Easy to install. No dripping. A real tight connection. Great quality! August 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good purchase the two piece metal starter set is very convenient to use I like it very much have it on all my faucets. August 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by proprietary connector First, I have no idea what this thing is made of. It's obviously NOT brass. It has a funky valve inside it that allows you to disconnect with water on. That may sound cool until you put the connector on your hydrant and want to run water without a hose. You have to remove the connector. Kinda defeats the purpose of a quick disconnect if I have to constantly remove it. Also, the rubber parts aren't attached to the fitting so if you tighten the connector, the rubber parts don't allow a solidly tight connection. My previous connectors are Nelson. Solid brass and well made. Why Home Depot doesn't sell them is extremely annoying. They're far better that this junk. June 28, 2016
