you need to rotate the dial at the end of the head. It may be difficult to move but you can do it if you are wearing gloves. Also make sure the water pressure is high enough to rotate the wand.

Be sure you have plenty of water pressure. If there isn't enough pressure the device won't oscillate.

Try turning the water on full force. Have you tried putting any oil on the moving parts? If that doesn't work you probably have a dud.

For the full coverage setting, there is no picture...I just tried to center the setting to the exact opposite side of the picture with the full shaded rectangle. If that doesn't work, I would return it, and try another. These sprinklers never last long for me, & often get stuck. Best of luck.

the most common problem with a sprinkler not oscillating is lack of water pressure. if you have plenty of pressure you may wish to get a little WD-40 and spary the points where parts meet up.

Oscillate is what these do, no settings on your part are necessary.
Odds are you are not using it at full power, these do not function at less than full power.

most of the time you will find the screen is dirty. Or maybe the setting is wrong. Or water pressure is to low. If none of these Ideas work , it might just be defective. Return to the store for a new one.

Have you looked on the instructions on the box? Tried a good quality oil like WD40? My answer to all things stuck, oil! If that doesn't work and instructions don't resolve the problem call or email Home Depot. They are great at assisting with issues such as yours and I know they would be happy to resolve any problems with your sprinkler to your satisfaction.

How to set this sprinkler to spray a narrow pattern?

There are no instructions for this sprinkler, just a vague picture of the settings on the box. I tried to set it to the 2 solid boxes (i think that's what the picture is saying, for narrow?), but it still sprays in a wide, fan- like spray. Anyone figure out how to narrow the spray? I'm watering my driveway and my neighbors house. Thanks.

Dear Kaybee: You cannot narrow the spray pattern on this sprinkler -- only adjust the forward and backward sweep range.

Home Depot sells another inexpensive sprinkler with the ability to adjust the width of the spray pattern: Melnor Model # 172-849, Home Depot Internet # 202051539 Store SKU # 172849. I bought two of them, and they work great. As you noted, a narrow spray pattern is often helpful.

Unfortunately, this sprinkler is very difficult to read the coverage settings on the dial and set. It's a bit more like trial and error to figure out which is what you want. I believe the center setting is the narrowest part of the dial pointer. The coverage is the part that is fully covered and outset from the plastic. The outlined block on the images on the dial shows where it doesn't spray. Try the narrow side and if that doesn't do it, try the thicker side. Read Less

I am not sure what exactly you're asking. When you connect it to a hose and turn on the water, it will start oscillating and spraying water. You can adjust the width of the areas it sprays by turning the yellow dial. It's a bit difficult to tell what the adjustments do just from the images on the dial, so my advice is to turn it, run back quickly so you don't get soaked ;) and see how it sprays. Adjust Read More

My sprinkler stops oscillating when the water pressure dips a little, and sometimes it just decides that it does not wish to play at all. I think it's a poor design and recommend you take it back.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Oscillating? Sprinkler won't oscillate at all -it just stands straight up in the air and clicks. No matter what setting, what adjustment, or what pressure. What gives! May 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Theres no operating manual in the box or on the fr works well, without a manual where's the freanking manual May 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for This sprinkler is low end, You basically get what you pay for, after I looked at what these are going for. This sprinkler is mostly plastic and is not very reliable ( problems with oscillation). I would recommend spending a little more to get a better sprinkler. Oscillation adjuster hard to move, not very user friendly. Sprinkler is light weight acnd easy to drag around yard. September 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not so great I bought two of these and could only get one of them to work. I took it back and will spend a little more money and get a metal one August 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I'd buy it again For the price it was worth it. Especially with the drought and todays water prices. I recommend getting a timer so it can turn on at night when the weather is cool and there is more ground absorbtion and less evaporation than using it during the day. August 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Covers 3400 Sq Ft This Spinkler is a good basic Oscillating Sprinkler. Box says ti covers 3400 sq ft. I am not sure why the description says 3200. It does cover a great deal of lawn. I would have liked the dial for different direction settings to be easier to understand and adjust. Once you read the instructions it makes sense but i would imagine next year when i cannot find the instructions it will be done by process of elimination. I would splerge and get the upgrade to the metal one. March 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by July 2016 Wont Oscillate I paid $14.95 for this at Home Depot, its nothing more than a water sprayer as it doesn't oscillate. I know it wants to because it says so right on the box, but it just can't, it only sprays one small strip of my lawn. Its great if I only wanted part of my lawn to look green and lush but I prefer to have the entire lawn looking the same. I would not recommend this sprayer to anyone who wants kids to run through it either because we all know half the fun is running from the spray that chases after you and this machine just doesn't cut it.
