Customer Questions & Answers

I press the rear trigger and very little water sprays out. When I take nozzle off, water flows fine. Whats problem?

Asked by: Vikke
possibly the front adjustment is not appropriately opened. Or possibly if your water is very hard, and the nozzle is old, it has a lime build up in the nozzle. Try to adjust the opening by twisting the front of the nozzle counter clockwise, and if it does go in that direction, it should get a higher flow.

Where can I get a replacement internal spiral spring and any washer required. My spring disintegrated after several year

Asked by: Lawnman
No disrespect, but you may wish to consider buying a new nozzle, as the whole unit is rather inexpensive, and if you have owned your nozzle for several years, it is likely near the end of its natural life expectancy anyway. Kind of like fixing a small appliance these days -- the cost and inconvenience of repairing an inexpensive product is often not worth it.

Is this nozzle lead-free?

I don't see a prop 65 warning, so I think it should be lead-free.
Asked by: mom
The Melnor 227-357 nozzle does not carry a prop 65 warning. There is no brass (which contains a small amount of lead) in the material makeup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and effective For things like water hose nozzles, I love design simplicity. You don't want some overly complicated nozzle that's just going to break on you when you go to use it. This is a super simple design, but it gets the job done. This is a quality unit as well, no plastic internals here. This nozzle is all brass inside and is going to last you a good, long time. My only complaint is that the rear pressure adjustment doesn't seem to work very well. It could be a finer adjustment than the just on/off it seems to be. But the fact is that you can adjust the pressure pretty well with the trigger itself. It shot a good 30ft and the pattern adjustment on the front works fantastic. I like it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Expect Much This nozzle is only marginally better than the less-expensive all plastic version, or simply holding your thumb over the end of the garden hose. The spray pattern adjustment is poor, when adjusted to a fine spray it cast a very wide coverage area (see picture), when adjusted to a heavy spray, it still sprayed water over a rather wide range, but would not provide a forceful concentrated stream of water (see picture). I look at this as a "throw-away" type of product, inexpensive enough to simply discard when it leaks or falls apart. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic and good I wanted a basic spray nozzle. I did not want something plastic or with a bunch of unneeded spray modes and this fit the bill perfectly. The nozzle works great. It has an adjustable spray tip and adjustable spray handle with lock. The spray nozzle is metal, which I like, and has rubberized handles for nice grip. I have used it for a couple weeks now and happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective After going through multiple hose nozzles with all kinds of fancy features to spray, mist, soak, narrow stream, wide stream, etc. I'm back to a basic trigger nozzle. In my experience, those multi-spray nozzles never last more than a summer or two and I rarely use any spray patterns outside the norm. This nozzle is basic, but solid, allows a simple adjustment from a tight jet to a mist/spray, and while I haven't had it too long, it reminds me of the style I grew up with that lasted for my entire childhood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They R Junk So I've purchased several of the Melnor sprayers and every one has failed after a very short time of service, the last one I purchased 3/7/16 and used it several times and it failed in 2 days, what fails is the plastic trigger where it pulls the shaft out to release the water, the plastic is so thin that after a few pulls it opens up and slips past the shaft, so what ive been doing is installing a screw to make it work! you would think, something so simple as a garden hose water sprayer, would be 1 of the last things anyone would write a review about>

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Nozzle is pretty strong. The water pressure on my street is pretty strong I use to use the cheep hoses but they only lasted about two weeks. Ten I bought the super strong hoses and then the Nozzles started to fail. So after about a week in the sun and frequent use the nozzles wold start leaking. This Nozzle has lasted over a month in the sun with no problem. the rubber ring in the front of the hose did pop off but it was easy to slide back on. So far so good! No leaks on drip!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does the job I sometimes don't like to say anything till I have had a product for a while. This sprayer feels good. I think it is made well. I have to get use to turning the nozzle to adjust the spray pattern. My other sprayer was adjusted by squeezing the handle. This one does have a good feel when using it. I have a lot of garden and I think this will do the job for me.
