Answer:
No disrespect, but you may wish to consider buying a new nozzle, as the whole unit is rather inexpensive, and if you have owned your nozzle for several years, it is likely near the end of its natural life expectancy anyway. Kind of like fixing a small appliance these days -- the cost and inconvenience of repairing an inexpensive product is often not worth it.

I don't see a prop 65 warning, so I think it should be lead-free.

Answer:
The Melnor 227-357 nozzle does not carry a prop 65 warning. There is no brass (which contains a small amount of lead) in the material makeup.

Adjustable Rear Trigger Nozzle is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and effective For things like water hose nozzles, I love design simplicity. You don't want some overly complicated nozzle that's just going to break on you when you go to use it. This is a super simple design, but it gets the job done. This is a quality unit as well, no plastic internals here. This nozzle is all brass inside and is going to last you a good, long time. My only complaint is that the rear pressure adjustment doesn't seem to work very well. It could be a finer adjustment than the just on/off it seems to be. But the fact is that you can adjust the pressure pretty well with the trigger itself. It shot a good 30ft and the pattern adjustment on the front works fantastic. I like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective After going through multiple hose nozzles with all kinds of fancy features to spray, mist, soak, narrow stream, wide stream, etc. I'm back to a basic trigger nozzle. In my experience, those multi-spray nozzles never last more than a summer or two and I rarely use any spray patterns outside the norm. This nozzle is basic, but solid, allows a simple adjustment from a tight jet to a mist/spray, and while I haven't had it too long, it reminds me of the style I grew up with that lasted for my entire childhood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Nozzle is pretty strong. The water pressure on my street is pretty strong I use to use the cheep hoses but they only lasted about two weeks. Ten I bought the super strong hoses and then the Nozzles started to fail. So after about a week in the sun and frequent use the nozzles wold start leaking. This Nozzle has lasted over a month in the sun with no problem. the rubber ring in the front of the hose did pop off but it was easy to slide back on. So far so good! No leaks on drip!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic and good I wanted a basic spray nozzle. I did not want something plastic or with a bunch of unneeded spray modes and this fit the bill perfectly. The nozzle works great. It has an adjustable spray tip and adjustable spray handle with lock. The spray nozzle is metal, which I like, and has rubberized handles for nice grip. I have used it for a couple weeks now and happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does the job I sometimes don't like to say anything till I have had a product for a while. This sprayer feels good. I think it is made well. I have to get use to turning the nozzle to adjust the spray pattern. My other sprayer was adjusted by squeezing the handle. This one does have a good feel when using it. I have a lot of garden and I think this will do the job for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good spray gun got this spray gun to use for various jobs around the house and shop cleaning jobs. seems to be durable and easy to adjust spray pattern. I am disappointed that it doesn't adjust to hard single stream. The trigger also seems hard to engage and when it does, be ready. Other than that it seems to be well made and works for every project i have tried it on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy Nozzle for garden needs Ok - This nozzle will probably fulfill your needs for everyday watering and washing. It is a metal body, with a rubberized grip. the only plastic portion of it is the trigger handle. It is made from a high strength plastic, and seems strong enough. There is the normal flip triangular piece to lock open the trigger for longer time watering needs. Then there is the spray adjust twist nozzle to change the spray pattern from a wide misting spray to a full fill up the bucket style spray. Other nozzles I have used did not have the adjustable nozzle, and would require you to hold your trigger at a specific point for a pattern, but this one can be adjusted to whatever pattern you like, then use the trigger to adjust how much water is coming out. So all in all, this is a pretty nice little nozzle which I find very useful for those day to day outside watering adventures (like I need to wash my truck now)... I do recommend this one for its usability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and Inexpensive The Melnor Adjustable Rear Trigger Nozzle does exactly what it is supposed to do, deliver water to one's plants, shrubs, or even small patches of grass. The Melnor Adjustable Rear Trigger Nozzle has a nice adjustable brass head that easily rotates to change the water from a stream to a fan. In addition, there is an arm that locks the trigger in place so that the operator does not need to continuously pull the trigger for long periods of time. Overall it's a pretty basic design that has been around for decades and has been getting the job done just as long. The only gripe I have is that the force of of the water cannot be adjusted. The water comes out pretty fast, too fast for any ornamental flowers or anything that is delicate. Personally, I think it is pretty effective at watering small areas of grass and sturdy shrubs. Anything that might be hurt by the force of the water I use a different nozzle. So, as long as the Melnor Adjustable Rear Trigger Nozzle is used appropriately, I definitely will recommend it to any friend or family member simply because of its price.
