Customer Questions & Answers

will this bulb work in an under-counter halogen puck light as a replacement for a G8 base halogen bulb?

Asked by: Babs
Yes I got mine from another store and it worked great for about a year and stopped working. The warranty is three years, sent it to the manufacture for six dollars and they will send you a new five dollar bulb free

Do I need to replace the dimmer with an "LED dimmer"? If so, what is the difference with what<s now in place for the xenon bulbs?

Asked by: Henry
No, I kept the same dimmer that I had with the halogen bulbs. The LED bulbs dim fine with existing dimmer switch.

Do these need to hook into a 12V transformer? AC or DC?

The description says "designed for 120-Volt fixtures only", but most of these small lights need to hook into a 12V transformer. Also I don't understand whether they need AC or DC transformers. Its very confusing, can somebody provide more details? Do I wire these directly into 120V light switch ? Thanks!
Asked by: Rick
These are 120V LED bulbs and must be used in a 120V fixture. I have 120V under cabinet puck fixtures and these bulbs work perfectly.

25W Equivalent Soft White (3000K) G8 Dimmable LED Replacement Light Bulb is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit everywhere but works great My microwave uses G8 75w 120v halogen bulbs and they seem to burn out every 4 months. I bought two of these as replacements. The box said they were equivalent to a 25w, but I think the design (single-direction) makes them seem just as bright as the original 75w. Two minor issues: 1) They didn't fit exactly into the socket, so I made a 1/2 inch riser. Now they fit great. 2) They are dimmable, but they seem to flicker on the lower setting. Not a problem, I don't use the lower setting any more. These don't give off much heat and only consume 2.5w (1/30th of the original energy usage). I'm pretty happy about the whole thing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plastic cover melts and burns. Beware no warranty. I like to keep my under-cabinet kitchen puck lights on all the time, but was constantly burning out G8 Xenon bulbs. These do fit the puck lights well. However, after about 4 months, the plastic cover on 1 (of four) of these melted and deformed to the point that it actually stuck to the LEDs and burnt. 2 others looked like they were on their way. Home Depot did nothing to rectify the situation because there is no warranty, so beware that point. I replaced these with a competing product from a competing retailer. There may also be better luck with heat dissipation (not melting) if there are no UV glass filters on the puck lights, but I'm not sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good not perfect These lights produce a very nice consistent light that may be better then the incandescent they replaced. These led's are mixed with the incandescent bulbs in my lights and they are a little whiter then the incandescent bulbs, but not blueish or harsh. Another immediate and noticeable benefit of the led is the greatly reduced heat output. The inside of my cabinets are cooler thanks to the led. I replaced 5 of the 14 under-counter bulbs and can hardly wait until more of the bulbs burn out so I can replace them. The only fault I found in these lights is they are NOT dimmable. When i switch them to low, they strobe, badly. Therefore, I give them 4 star.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not recommended for puck under counter lights Purchased 10 lights 3 failed within 100 hours. Contacted manufacture but received no response to emails and they did not honor the 3 yr. 15000 hr warranty, when I returned the first bulb that failed they kept it. I found the only thing worse than the bulbs was the customer service. I am off to Lowe's to pick up a bulb to replace these now. Count this as a $100 lesson about trusting Home Depots recommendations on products. As long as they worked they were fine but I found the bulbs all exhibit a burnt brown color on the ceramic back and it appears they over heat in the environment they were designed to be used in, namely under counter puck lights. Once they over heat they begin to blink then go out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from G8 Dimmable LED Replacement Light Bulb We recently bought 5 of these LED bulbs to replace 5 halogen bulbs. The main reason was to reduce power use and greatly reduce the under counter heat in the kitchen. Power consumption was reduced from ( 5 x 35W ) 175W to ( 5 x 2.5W ) 12.5W with no reduction in light level. We also installed a dimming Lutron Diva light switch which allows dimming the lights to a level that is pleasing for use as low level atmosphere lighting when the kitchen is just in need of low level illumination. We are very pleased with the outcome of the project. They are a true plug n play, plug in replacement. Great products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement So far so good. These blubs were a direct replacement for the hot 20 watt halogen bulbs that burn out every 4 months or so. I was considering replacing the entire system with LED "pucks" under my cabinetts however this made the job easier since they fit into my exhisting pucks. Light is good and bright. no flicker with my dimmer (it is made for LED's) and they only get warm. The price is more then I'd like, spending $60 for 6 lamps, but with the savings in power, cool running and if they last as claimed I would do it all again. Good quality too though they were made in China. For some reason I haven't seen these anywhere but online at Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the original! Replaced six 35w xenon bulbs in two under cabinet kitchen fixtures (three each). Fixtures were used very sparingly because they heated up so much that the glassware on the first shelf of the cabinet was too hot for cold beverages. At 2.2w per bulb, these save almost 200 watts of electricity whenever using both fixtures. Fixtures have toggle switch--High, Off, Low. Lamps do not burn steadily on Low. Not an issue, we just use the High. Using wall switch to turn off fixtures still allows LEDs to glow ever so faintly, so we use Off on toggle to shut off lamps completely Better lighting, heat problem resolved, tremendous electricity savings made these bulbs an exceptional buy.
