Good Afternoon Liz,
This item is only recommended for outdoor use for areas with a warmer climate. Being that this tile is made of ceramic, it will absorb between 3% and 7% water and is not frost resistant. Being that it absorbs water, the tile could possibly crack if it is exposed to freezing temperatures. If you are in a warm climate that does not drop to freezing temperatures, this tile would be great in an outdoor location. It is highly durable, as well as very slip resistant, making it safe, even if wet and it will be durable to withstand dirt and heavy foot traffic. If you live in a cooler climate, you may want to explore other options that are made of porcelain. This will be impervious to water and frost resistant, so it will not crack if it freezes. The Americana Boston series http://thd.co/1Tlj9tr is a nice comparable option that offers the coordinating Americana Newton http://thd.co/1PMw3L5 and the Americana Cleveland http://thd.co/1ogEzLd. Here is a link to all of our porcelain tiles with a suitable durability rating for outdoor use http://thd.co/20yXUU9. Hey PDXGuy,
While you definitely need sealer for the grout, this tile doesn't require sealer, but it wouldn't hurt to have additional amounts of it either.
In fact, just applying grout sealer is a time-consuming process without touching tile. It would be easier just to seal all the flooring surface in small 3ft. x 3 ft. areas with a sponge.

Most sealers won't change the color of the tile or give it a sheen, so make sure the one you purchase is a standard sealer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful tile that looks imported from Spain or Latin America I love this tile. We put it down on the kitchen floor and the dining room floor. Even though we are in Maine, when we painted the walls white, the whole effect made us think of California. It's a bright large tile that looks great in a big space. Most of all, it's not imitation anything. It looks like a real ceramic tile! I can't say more yet. The tile hasn't been down long. June 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful economical tile. The tiles are beautiful and very reasonably priced. They are sq. and easy to install. March 9, 2016
