I would not use this large of single tiles on a shower floor. You need to pitch a shower floor toward the drain. This won't work for you.

Good afternoon,
This tile would be just fine as a shower floor, provided that a waterproof membrane is used. The roughness on the surface of the tile will provide good slip resistance, and it looks great too!
Hope that helps.

We live in Fairfax, VA, where it is cool most of the year, but there is the occasional snowfall and freezing temperature. Would this be okay for a backyard patio in this climate or should we look at pavers instead?

It would work well to cover a cement patio. Do not install on the ground, these are tiles, they need a substrate of at least 1 1/2" per building code.

Good morning,
Because this tile is ceramic, it absorbs some water (typically 3-7%). Because of that, there is a risk of cracking, if the tile were to absorb water and then freeze. Therefore, we do not recommend using ceramic tiles for any outdoor area that reaches freezing temperatures. You may choose to use pavers, but another option would be porcelain tile.

Porcelain has a very small water absorption percentage (less than 0.5%) and therefore is safe to use outdoors in areas where freezing may occur. We do offer porcelain tiles that look like stone, such as the Merola Tundra Por Rustico, Merola Taiga Por Ocre, and Merola Elba. Take a look and see if any of those might fit the bill! Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MEROLA TILE A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!! Look at how beautiful this tile looks! We used for our bathroom floor and find it has so much character!! The tile is durable and colorful and will last a long time!! All you need is a tile cutter purchased at Home Depot along with tile adhesive!!! The wet saw did not work as well so I would definitely use the tile cutter. The price was around $160 to cover this bathroom floor and the adhesive an additional $25. There is some waste because the tile is not square and the edges needs to be cut. I would recommend this product for a bathroom, around a fireplace, doorway entry or just about and room in your home! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installation It took me a full day to lay out and install this tile by my front door approximately 150 SQ feet. Used two 50# bags of gray thinset and two 8.5# bags of grout Brownish color The hardest part was figuring out where to start so there were no small end pieces. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very satisfying puchase we installed this for our fireplace and wow what a world of difference. It is absolutely gorgeous. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Even Better Than Anticipated I wanted a nice contrast between the warm wood and cool tile/floors in our log cabin. We have field stone behind our woodstove and this tile "looked" like it would go well. Not only does it go well, it looks like individually laid stones! We used natural gray 1 gal. pre-mixed grout. Our contractor said it was a bit challenging getting started with the interlocking edges along the logs and the tongue and groove under the carpet in the livingroom (next project) but once he got going, it went down very quickly. I would highly recommend this tile to anyone. It looks even better than I had imagined - looks high end, has texture so it is not slippery at all. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tile for the price! This product worked great under our bar countertop. It was thin and didn't take up valuable knee space and was easy to cut and install. April 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply Gorgeous Tile I ordered three cases of this tile after estimating how much I would need for my bathroom floor remodel. I picked up in store and was helped out to my car by a very nice employee who loaded it into my car. All the cases were packaged well and none of the 7 tiles per case were damaged. I loved the design and color of the tile so much that I decided to do my shower walls as well. I ordered 7 more cases online. The order didn't qualify for free shipping so I contacted an agent via "chat" and they adjusted my order to remove the cost of shipping. UPS delivered it directly to my home. Of those 49 tiles, only 1 was broken which was not an issue because my contractor was going to have to do a lot of cutting anyway. I love this tile because it looks like individual stones and the grout lines are barely noticeable. My friends and family think it looks like a grotto and I couldn't be happier with the results. I can hardly wait to get the shower doors installed so I can actually use it! February 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice tile This tile works well as a wall tile. Don't let the weight put you off like I almost did me. I purchased this tile to cover my standard black slate fireplace hearth and surround. I liked the stone look and the uneven edges for that particular project. The tile was able to be fitted together without a grout line., which I wanted for this particular project. February 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks like Picture! I ordered this product sight-unseen from the internet for a faux fireplace surround I was constructing. I wanted shades of gray and orangish-brown to coordinate with the brick that was already in place. The tile was a good match to the picture on the website. The cutting of this tile is tricky because the edges are wavy and it is a thick tile. The rocky-appearance is aided by the wavy edges, however. I used sandy beige grout by Lacrete and a 1/8" grout line. All my tiles (1 box) arrived intact and very well-packaged. This is despite the fact I saw the delivery man kicking the box. I would definitely use this tile again in the appropriate situation. August 18, 2015
