Good Afternoon,
This tile can be used on a fireplace surround! As long as it does not come in contact with direct flame, this tile will not be affected by the indirect heat from the fire (when this tile is made, it is heated at temperatures that are thousands of degrees so the indirect heat from a fireplace is nothing compared to that). Be sure to check the images in the Customer Reviews section at the bottom of the page, as there are a couple images that show the scale of a row of these (the customer cut these into strips). Otherwise, all of the images we have for this product are supplied on the product page. Please email us at photos@merolatile.com inquiring about an image and we will work to email you an image to give you a better perception of the scale of this item. We would not recommend using this tile where freezing temperatures are present. This tile is ceramic, so if it is exposed to water the tile could possibly crack. For a similar design, we would recommend our Classico mosaic http://thd.co/1VU7G5q or our Deco Calzado Ardesia http://thd.co/24fhloW. The Classico has the bright colors, similar to the Avila Arenal Décor that you have chosen, whereas the Deco Calzado Ardesia has the same slab format. Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I used this tile as a border around my bathroom mirror and it turned out great! I recently took a chance and purchased 3 Merola Avila Arenal Decor tiles from the Home Depot website. They looked just like the picture on their website and shipped very quickly via UPS. I cut each tile into 5 pieces that were 2.5" X 12.5". I used these to create a tile border around one of my bathroom mirrors. I call it a tile frame because it frames the mirror. The tiles cut very easily and I had no breakage using a fairly inexpensive tile saw. I used a Locktite mirror adhesive to glue them directly onto the mirror. I left gaps between the tile pieces to match the fake grout lines in the tile and then I grouted the gaps in a matching grout. I looked for weeks for wood frames that I could use to cover the very plain mirrors that had no edging, but this idea was so much prettier and is very practical because I can wipe down the tile easily. It probably worked out to be a cheaper idea too as the wood frames were costly. Thank you Home Depot and Merola Tile! May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful! I can't comment on the ease of installation as someone did it for us. However, we are very happy with the results. We put two of these in our kitchen as accents and we couldn't be more pleased. December 29, 2015
