Customer Questions & Answers

Suitable for use on a raised deck?

Merola Ravenna Beige Porcelain Tile: our deck is concrete. How would this tile hold up to temperatures from 10F to 100F, bearing in mind that the hot or cold air would be both above and under the deck (rather like a bridge). Would you suggest sealing?
Asked by: Anonymous
Good morning, The Ravenna Beige would not be affected by extreme heat or freezing cold. This is an Impervious tile, Frost Resistant tile that is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use. Furthermore, porcelain tile is fired at temperatures over 2000 degree Fahrenheit and is highly resistant to heat, thus heat would have no effect on how it performs; if it is being applied over Underfloor Heating, this would require special installation for reasons other than the products performance. Installing tile over concrete can be tricky if the proper steps are not taken to prepare that concrete’s surface. We would suggest consulting a professional directly for specific installation instructions. Might we also suggest referring to Home Depot’s DIY Forums – Project How To?
