I have 10ft and 12ft ceilings in my house and want to paint and do a project on my coffered ceiling. What is the tallest scaffold Home Depot sells that won't break the bank? I would like to buy one instead of renting. Thank you!
Asked by: Ronnie
I am 5' 10'' tall. I am using this on a 11 ft high pergula. No problem if you are comfortable with the third level.

Customer Reviews

Job Site Series 6-3/8 ft. x 4 ft. x 2-1/2 ft. Scaffold 900 lb. Load Capacity is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for me as an artist and a woman. I initially came to to ask a question about getting additional platforms, yet ended up writing what amounted to a review because I love this device so much. Whenever people see me using it they marvel at how cool it is. I inevitably marvel back as if I invented the thing. -What I wrote- FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS: If anyone is looking at different portable models and can't decide, get this one!! ***JOBSITE SERIES 5’ (MODEL I-IMIS)*** I can't praise it enough. I use it in my art studio and it's small enough for me, as a woman, to not be cumbersome, but also wide enough to actually work on, particularly moving around while painting on an 8'x8' canvas. To compare: the 4' model wouldn't allow me to comfortably reach high enough for long periods and the 6' model was just too wide for my space. Also, very important, one of the biggest selling points of the I-IMIS model, is that the legs have small outriggers on the bottom for extra stability rather than the legs going straight down. I bought this after rather painfully falling off a 6' ladder when it tipped over and I very much appreciate knowing there's even more added safety than just a "safety bar," which I take off anyway to paint. I truly do love this scaffolding, so I hope the details of my specific use helps anyone looking that can't decide! FURTHER THOUGHTS: I noticed some people complaining about the dimensions. Home Depot describes this unit as "MetalTech Job Site Series 6-3/8 ft. x 4 ft. x 2-1/2 ft." While this is accurate, it is also misleading. The information on Metaltech's website is more instructive: Assembled dimensions (W X D X H): 50.5 X 31 X 76.5 IN. **WORKING HEIGHTS: 11.5 - 25 - 36.5 - 48 IN.** This means that you can install the shelving to step as high as 48 inches. The 6-3/8 ft. in Home Depot's description is including the height of the removable safety bar. (Just because: the maximum working height of the collapsible 4' version is 33 inches. The maximum working height of the collapsible 6' version is 73 inches.) Additionally, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting too much weight on the "tool shelf." It has a circular indentation clearly meant for a paint gallon, but anything as heavy as a full gallon of paint causes it to bend and buckle down a bit. I actually ended up cracking the plastic on mine because I tried to bend it back down to get it out of the way. It was useless to me. I do wish it came with more platform shelves. If I want to place both shelves on one tier to create maximum foot room, the distance between the lowest "step" shelf and the highest level is fairly awkward. More shelves would mean I could create a larger 2-shelf platform on the top tier and create another 2-shelf platform beneath to use as both another step as well as storage. The set-up as far as the main picture shows is basically like walking up shallow stairs. This is great if you wish to do something short and simple like hammer in a nail, but not that great if you plan on spending any extended amount of time on a higher level. Hopefully getting more shelves won't be too much of a hassle. -Lightweight enough for the smaller statured. -Very smooth wheels and maneuverability. -Easy to collapse and store. -Solid, sturdy construction. -I don't fear it tipping over in the slightest. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't believe I hesitated on this purchase! OMG, this is the best purchase I've made this year. I (a 5'2 woman) rassled the big sturdy box into the van and then into my garage with the help of a hand truck (dolly). Assembly took maybe 10 minutes. Let me tell you, this scaffold makes painting a breeze. I am currently painting every ceiling in the house--sorely needed, often postponed. It's a breeze with this baby. Love the shelf, and here's a tip: when fully extended, the shelf actually tilts up a bit (outer edge higher than inner edge). This is a feature, not a bug. Hook your paint roller tray so that the deep end is closest to you. The hooks will fit perfectly over the outer edge of the shelf, and your paint will stay in the deep end where it belongs. Remove the top grab bar and the whole scaffold folds down to just a few inches in depth. I'm so glad I bought this. If you're on the fence, GET IT! You won't be sorry.
