I wish that I had bought this years ago. So much better than working off a ladder. This is very sturdy, great height.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by erica Perfect for me as an artist and a woman.
I initially came to homedepot.com to ask a question about getting additional platforms, yet ended up writing what amounted to a review because I love this device so much. Whenever people see me using it they marvel at how cool it is. I inevitably marvel back as if I invented the thing.
-What I wrote-
FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS:
If anyone is looking at different portable models and can't decide, get this one!! ***JOBSITE SERIES 5’ (MODEL I-IMIS)*** I can't praise it enough. I use it in my art studio and it's small enough for me, as a woman, to not be cumbersome, but also wide enough to actually work on, particularly moving around while painting on an 8'x8' canvas. To compare: the 4' model wouldn't allow me to comfortably reach high enough for long periods and the 6' model was just too wide for my space. Also, very important, one of the biggest selling points of the I-IMIS model, is that the legs have small outriggers on the bottom for extra stability rather than the legs going straight down. I bought this after rather painfully falling off a 6' ladder when it tipped over and I very much appreciate knowing there's even more added safety than just a "safety bar," which I take off anyway to paint. I truly do love this scaffolding, so I hope the details of my specific use helps anyone looking that can't decide!
I noticed some people complaining about the dimensions. Home Depot describes this unit as "MetalTech Job Site Series 6-3/8 ft. x 4 ft. x 2-1/2 ft." While this is accurate, it is also misleading. The information on Metaltech's website is more instructive:
Assembled dimensions (W X D X H): 50.5 X 31 X 76.5 IN.
**WORKING HEIGHTS: 11.5 - 25 - 36.5 - 48 IN.**
This means that you can install the shelving to step as high as 48 inches. The 6-3/8 ft. in Home Depot's description is including the height of the removable safety bar. (Just because: the maximum working height of the collapsible 4' version is 33 inches. The maximum working height of the collapsible 6' version is 73 inches.)
Additionally, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting too much weight on the "tool shelf." It has a circular indentation clearly meant for a paint gallon, but anything as heavy as a full gallon of paint causes it to bend and buckle down a bit. I actually ended up cracking the plastic on mine because I tried to bend it back down to get it out of the way. It was useless to me.
I do wish it came with more platform shelves. If I want to place both shelves on one tier to create maximum foot room, the distance between the lowest "step" shelf and the highest level is fairly awkward. More shelves would mean I could create a larger 2-shelf platform on the top tier and create another 2-shelf platform beneath to use as both another step as well as storage. The set-up as far as the main picture shows is basically like walking up shallow stairs. This is great if you wish to do something short and simple like hammer in a nail, but not that great if you plan on spending any extended amount of time on a higher level. Hopefully getting more shelves won't be too much of a hassle.
-Lightweight enough for the smaller statured.
-Very smooth wheels and maneuverability.
-Easy to collapse and store.
-Solid, sturdy construction.
-I don't fear it tipping over in the slightest.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Griller1960 MetalTech scaffold
This is a quality, inexpensive scaffold for anyone with 10' ceilings. Bought this for painting our living room. Had to do some small repairs to the ceiling that were very difficult from a ladder. The scaffold made the work much easier and safer. Also, the hand rail for working up at the upper levels on the unit is a big advantage. Rolls easily, and locks in place securely. This makes doing the cut in around the ceiling much quicker and less frustrating (both for painting the ceiling and the upper portions of a 10' wall).
The only small drawbacks are this thing is heavy and slightly difficult to assemble the first time. You will need 2 strong people to load it in a truck from the store. One of the plastic packing straps on the outside of the box broke while trying to use it to lift the box into my truck. The other one broke while unloading it. But this weight is part of why the unit is stable with a 180 to 200 pound person 4 feet off the floor on the upper platform. When attaching the wheels, you need to flip it over at least once. 2 people are needed to do this safely. The Handrail was hard to get lined up at first, but with a bit of wiggling and a rubber mallet, it went on nicely.
Once the initial assembly was done, it is a snap to use. Just wish I could get an extra one of the skinny platform sections for use with a 10' ceiling. Had to use a stool to step up to the first level because it needed to start at the second level for the platforms. Then stepping up on the first wide platform to the second one was like going up a staircase.
When done using it, it does not require complete disassembly to be put away. Just take off the platforms and safety Hand Rail. Then it folds up and can be stored in a relatively small space until the next time it is needed.
Compared to the competitor's scaffolds at the store, this one seems to be a better value for the money, and a little bit less expensive. I definitely recommend this product.

The scaffold came disassembled in a box. Took 15 minutes to assemble with no tools. Scaffold is sturdy and well made. I used the scaffold to paint a 10 foot ceiling and then disassembled for storage. Would recommend this product for home use.

I found this scaffolding very easy to assemble and very sturdy! So much better to use than a shaky ladder for painting.
