I'm concerned that If I hook this heater up to my solar powered gate opener batter that it will actually drain the batteries power

Answer:
It is not recommended for solar applications. I suppose you could get around that by installing a much larger solar panel though. Here in Iowa, I gave up on the idea of using solar power for the gate opener and ran wire to the house instead.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tight fit but easy to install The battery heater doesn't really fit into the housing without bowing out the walls but other than that it is easy to install. Will have to wait for the temperature to drop to see how well it works. October 18, 2016
