Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gto A claim that doesn't make sense
The manufacture claim that you can use up to an 18' gate each side let's see 18' + 18' = 36' so why would the wire from the slave arm be about 22' long.
I have two 10' gates and the wire on the new GTO FM 502 was not as long as the unit I am replacing which happens to be a GTO FM 502 I bought new about eight years ago so I had to splice the two together not really something you want to do I hope it last's.
If you are going to try to save a little money by shorting the length of the wire in the slave arm please let the consumer know or give an option for a wire that is applicable to their application so they don't have to go through the frustration I did other than that the product works OK.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DL Construction Even the best has room for improvement
As a contractor I see products a bit differently. To start with the openers are everything they say! Easy to install and operate smoothly. I am sure a home owner will have little problems installing
The company advertises them to work with up to an 18' wide gate but doesn't provide enough wire on the slave opener to even come close to crossing the driveway and making it back to the control box. Splicing underground takes special connections to keep the joints dry! A small issue missed in the instructions was when you have gates that swing away from your property and you want to reset the stop limits reverse the gate location from what is printed in the manual.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Edinbonnydoon Much better, easier to follow instructions
This is my second Mighty Mule 502 set. The first lasted over 14 years even though I did have to replace the circuit board after about 8 years. The instructions for setting the close operation are much easier to understand and follow with this new set. I really am happy with the product and highly recommend it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Andy Worked great for the first few months...
We purchased this opener for use with our new driveway double gate and were very pleased with its performance for about six months. Since then, we have had to contact tech support a NUMBER of times for different issues, and have been very frustrated by some of these interactions with Mighty Mule.
Currently, we are having to pay out-of-pocket to ship one of the gate arms to their repair service, rendering our automatic gate useless until we receive the repaired or replaced arm.
I have used an automatic gate opener in the past from a different manufacturer and had no malfunctions after several years. We are highly disappointed in the quality of this product! I wish we had looked over their website and noted the large number of troubleshooting FAQs that have affected other customers - it certainly would have made us more cautious about our purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bond007 Very nice gate opener
Easy to install for the do-it-yourselfer. Make sure if you have 4" galvinized heavy duty post you have a couple 1/2" (two or three at least) drill bits. I even used a 1/4" then 3/8" and then 1/2". It has been installed for two weeks now and no real complaints. It does operate (or open and close) slowly but beside of that it is awesome. Caught it on sale and jumped all over this and glad I did.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kim1 Great product great price
We had our house burglarized and we had our iron gates installed but needed the gate openers and lets tell you we had searched a lot of gate openers and you were the best price around. The shipping was very fast and we were able to install the gate openers just in time for us to go on vacation. It was nice to be on vacation and have piece of mind our house was secure. Would buy again from this company. Thank you. Kim and George Johnson Gridley, CA

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by roland Gate and opener
This gate opener worked out really well. I installed it myself on a 14' iron gate which was also from GTO. The installation instructions were clear and easy to understand. Just be ready for some drilling through the steel poles. It takes a little advance planning for the conduit install for the wiring. The only thing extra I had to buy was the low voltage wire to supply power to the opener.
