Answer:
That depends highly on the opener. Some can be directed to close or open after a delay, others do not have that option. Most folks, they rely on the remote, or the "doorbell" switch to open and close the gates. Read the manual, they can be downloaded for perusal.

Answer:
RadCoor,
You can either install the gate openers as push-to-open or pull-to-open, they cannot be installed with one arm as push-to-open and the other pull-to-open on a Mighty Mule dual gate opening system. Thank you,

Answer:
No, unless you got some sort of add-on push to open kit.
The gate kit by itself opens two gates (double gate) on its own. You cannot push on them to open.
If there is such a thing as an add-on for push to open, then that would change this answer and you'd have to get that kit.

Hello KTM,
It depends on how heavy each of your gate's panels are. The Mighty Mule model number FM402 is ideal for dual swing gates up to 12 ft. or 300 lbs.per gate panel. If each of your gates may weigh more than 300 lbs. each, I would recommend you purchase the Mighty Mule model number FM502, this gate opener is ideal for dual swing gates up to 18 ft. or 850 lbs. per panel. If you want the gate openers to swing away from your property, you will need to add two Mighty Mule push to open brackets, model number FM148. This convenient push to open bracket attaches the gate opener at the gate post at an angle that allows the gate to swing away from the property instead of into it. This metal bracket is ideal for sloping driveways or where space prevents a gate from opening inward. Read Less

Answer:
It could technically work with a car battery. However, the battery would not fit in the box and you'd have to have another box to put it, and wire it up accordingly.
I didn't buy the solar kit, but bought parts to make my own. I used a smaller, car-type 12v battery, such as one that would run a wheelchair or similar.
I'd have to look up the exact battery, but you can check the dimensions.

Hello Doug,
The FM402 is designed to function with the use of a 12-Volt, 7 Amp/hour battery our FM150 battery is the recommend battery to use. This gate opener can be used with a car battery however its not needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DONT BUY THIS !!! First the remote that we use to open the gate from a distance don't send a clear signal, you have to be close to the control box like maybe 60 or 70 feet for it to work every time. Second ... after one years we had to call then to have a new control board because the one we had was acting weird, making weird beep beep beep !!! and son on ... After 10 months receiving the new control board, now the gate often refuse to completely open. It start to open and then in the middle of it shut back. We have to go to the control board and set the switch to off and the turn it on and try again to open the gate. Sometime it works sometime it don't. It happen many many time in a week like 3 or 4 time a week. Very annoying when someone is waiting at the gate and you try to opine and it does not. WE CALL THEM and the only solution they have for us is to buy a NEW HOLE KIT !!!! BECAUSE they cannot tell if it is the electronic board that is defect or if it is one of the two arm !!! The brand is GTO for Gate That Open ... yes Gate That Open ? are you serious ???

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product works like it should...but not perfect. The Medium Duty Dual Swing Automatic Gate System works as expected but it is far from perfect. The brackets are made to attach to a curved metal post. If that is what you are using to hang your gate opener on, then you're going to be very happy. If your gate attaches to flat columns, then you are going to the hardware store to make modifications. Also, the units are very loud and slow. I expected slow, but the loudness is annoying. Overall though, the gates open and close without any problems. If it holds up for the next ten years, (as it has for the last two weeks) then I will be happy with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from wouldnt do it again Now that I finally installed it I can say I would not do it again. After spending three agonizing days, I'm glad I'm finally done but would notpurchase this again.the best recommendation I have is to read through the instructions from start to finish at least twice before you start. The parameters for the bracket are super important and the fact that the arm has to be extended at least 7 inches in order to set the limit on the gate is a key fact. I learned this after spending all day with technical support on the phone to no avail. They sent me on a wild goose chase stating first it was a bad battery then it was a bad control board, while in actuality it was a problem of they arm not being extended 7 inches exactly in order to set the limit. So bottom line is read all of the instructions closely and do not rely on technical support for any valuable assistance. I have had them working about 2 weeks now without a problem but they are very slow to open and close the gate, and a little noisy. But for the price what do you expect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay far Away!!! I have had the Mighty Mule 502 for a couple of years now and it has never worked for more than 2 weeks at a time. Here is what concerns me most about this company, I had a contractor install the arms using the directions which were provided by the company. After the installation was complete, the arms did not work, finally we decided to contact their tech support department which explained to my contractor that he should not follow the directions inside the box and to just follow his instructions over the phone, well that's great, useless instructions which drove me mad. Fast forward 2 years later, I wanted to add an exit wand to my gate, previously we had a wireless one which only worked on and off at best, it was very temperamental. After installing the new exit wand exactly the way the on-line tech support instructions told me too, it of course did not work, so I returned the wand to Home Depot thinking it was bad. I ordered a 2nd wand on-line hoping that the first one I purchased was just a dud and again I installed it as the directions indicated except this time I noticed in the directions indicated that there should be a "Range Adjustment Control Board" on the panel with a yellow wire coming out. I had no such board or yellow wire which led me to call tech support again. As was the case previously, the tech guy said."oh, you must have old instructions, don't pay attention to that, I will walk you through it". REALLY?? So every bit of instructions this company provides is useless and outdated, do not buy if you think this is an easy do it yourself project, they take no pride in their products and customer service has never been helpful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problems so far. Let's see how customer services/warranty will handle it I hope to change my opinion in a few days but this is my story so far: - Connected the gate opener arms. Looks good but I did not like that the 2 ends of the arms are plastic. My previous one (Zareba) was metal. These plastics will eventually crack. - Followed the instructions to connect the control box to the battery and it beeped loud non stop. - I then decided to proceed without the battery (there is nothing in the manual saying I should not). - Connected everything and it did not work. Even tried to connect the battery again but then, besides the beep, the control board was smoking. They did not agree to send me a new control board before looking at what is wrong to the current one and if it is damaged because of something I did. Tech Support says it would not work without the battery, but was more concerned on what I did wrong rather than listening that the unit beeped NON STOP in the first place before I connected anything else just by connecting the battery. I hope to come back in a few days and change my rating and comments here to show an outstanding customer support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great opener! Didn't have any trouble installing. I added a few Mighty Mule accessories, such as a wireless keypad, wireless exit sensor. Also added a solar panel (not Mighty Mule's kit), as the gate is over 100 yards from the house. All are working great. I'ts only been a few weeks, so we'll see how it does thru the winter.
