Before install check the solar panel voltage rite out of the box, just set it in the sun and read the voltage with a multi meter to assure that your panel is putting out more than 12 volts. I am truly impressed with the performance of our gate since install over a year ago. I am led to believe that most issues with this gate opener are from installation errors. The gate must be level not almost level. Take the time to every so often recheck your level and make adjustments as needed. Read Less

If you need a secure coded entry, wireless keypads are available from Mighty Mule. If you need to access the gate from greater than 200 ft., a wired remote is available from Mighty Mule
My kit came with 4 remotes. I mounted 2 inside weatherproof electrical boxes. I mounted the electrical boxes on 1/2 inch metal pipe. I have a push button entry on both sides. Security was not a problem at my house.

Can the gate be opened easily without a remote?

We own property accessed by MANY members. During regularly scheduled events we would just leave the gate open like we do now, but at other times the gate has always required them to stop at the gate, open it, drive through, and then close it. We are considering the gate opener for our handicapped members that struggle to manage the gate, but don't want to inconvenience everyone else.

Answer:
Just press the remote while gate is in motion. It will stop and not start again until the remote is pressed. The direction of movement will then be reversed and gate will cycle normally. You can also switch to OFF when gate is fully open. When you switch ON, the gate will time its normal open, then cycle normally.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed so far I researched this opener quite extensively and decided on this package. Being very mechanical and electrically versed I can see from some bad comments that most people have no business taking on this project. The directions say level and they mean it. I took extra care concreting in my corner post and making sure that my tube gate was perfect. I was able to set the remote first try and also the open and close positions. I did have to make 1 adjustment 3 days later due to the tube clamp bracket I installed. I added 2 extra bolts to keep it held perfectly in place and have not had a problem since. Due to our higher use, 10-12 cycles per day , I purchased a 12 volt car battery and marine battery box to put the battery in. These are screwed and a cable runs through the box and around the pole for security. October 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Broken after only two weeks Broken after only 2 weeks. Has a bad/malfunctioning limit switch. Was not that bad to install. I attached mine to a 6x6 post and 14ft pipe gate with 1" 3/4 pipe. weighing about 80 lbs. I used pipe clamps to fasten the hardware to the gate purchased from Napa auto parts. After installation was complete and all functions were completed/programmed operation seemed ok. The next morning the gate would not open just beeped. Fortunately for me i was able to go out through my neighbors yard. When i got home push transmitter the gate opened. The next few days were ok, then went to leave that morning and gate opener just beeps. This gate opener is very poor quality. FM350SOL I do not recommend this product. It is not dependable. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Automatic Gate Opener Works great, kit came with everything needed to install. It's slow to open ( likely a safety thing) and I've not been able to program my interior truck opener yet. Came with 3 remotes though and we have a key pad too. We got the solar kit and since we have no lack of sun in Florida we have ready power. I think the cost was fair. All and all we spent much less than I would have thought to have the convenience of a automatic gate? March 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Plan ahead It's a good opener and simple to install once you have all needed hardware. Lookup and read a pdf of the instructions so that you have on hand the items needed that are not included. Once you have everything, the install is smooth. Items you may need: wire, clamps, battery, battery box. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install This mule gate opener was easy to install and has made my wife very happy. Nobody likes to open the gate then it's even harder to get them to close it. Why didn't I do this sooner. July 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY I purchased my Mighty Mule FM350 about 6 months ago, and was happy up until it went haywire! I went to leave one morning and the gate was wide open, the wrong way. When I tried to reset the unit and get it working, the unit will only beep 3 times. A call to Tech Support was waste of time, as I had to ask the technician every question, after explaining what happened. He said, "You've got a shorted circuit board, and a refurbished one is $140." I asked about a warranty, and was told it did not cover the circuit board. Huh? I had to go down a troubleshooting list and ask questions, as this guy had just woke up, or something. Not helpful, or personable, at all! He did say there was NO WAY the unit could open the gate the wrong way.....well it did! The unit is DESIGNED to be outside....and the circuit board shorts out? Very poor design that does not have short-circuit protection. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY as I did. Look for another brand! January 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It Opens the Gate I bought this opener on sale and installed it myself. I tried to hire a contractor but they were all too busy. So, I did it for about 1/3 what I expected to pay. Took me 2-3 hours by myself. I purchased the solar panel option with 2 extra remotes. I installed 2 remotes in weatherproof switch boxes on 3/4 inch pipe poles. Security was not an issue so I did not program the remotes. My gate is only +/- 200 lbs. I think this is important with this opener. My neighbor went through 4 in 10 years, but since he changed to a model 600 for his heavier gate, he has not had any problems. Skill level: basic handyman. Tools: strong drill with 3/8 inch bits. (May need a long bit for post); screw drivers; 9/6 and 1/2 inch wrenches. I've had the opener installed for over a week and its used 5 to 15 times a day. The included instructions and DVD were very clear. I had to weld additional support and bracing for my gate, but that depends on the type of gate. October 18, 2015
