Customer Reviews

Joint Crafter is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! The Jointer was 100% assembled, the instruction are easy to understand. It is exactly what I wanted. The body and fence are made of plastic, so I suspect durability will be an issue, but for the home DIY it is a good purchase. The drill guides are brass and steel, so these will outlive the body. There are only three guide sizes for typical dowel diameters. There are more elaborate and diverse drill guides for dowels, but it is simple, easy to set up, and keeps the holes perpendicular with some practices. Never be in a hurry when drilling dowel holes!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just Adequate The jig does an acceptable job if you take extreme care and have somebody help you. Alignment is by looking down the drill hole which is completely dark when in position. Thus you must lift it slightly to let light in, move it to the correct position, then hold that position as you lower it to the board. This is difficult and error prone. The method of centering is really neat and uses two pins, one on each side of the stock. It should precisely center the dowel on the board edge, but unfortunately there is no way to clamp the tool in position. You must eyeball the location and then hand hold the tool with the pins against opposite sides of the board while you drill. I found that after considerable time getting things aligned, it would slip during the drilling process. I finally gave up and purchased Harbor Freight’s dowel jig #41345 (which is actually one dollar cheaper). It has its own problems but is significantly better than this jig.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I needed I had narrow boards it was next to impossible to use this tool. May be ok for wide boards where the dowels can be spread apart. The directions are terrible, I had to call the company twice. I returned it.
