Had to purchase online and pickup at store. Make sure your not paying shipping costs if so have it delivered to your home since it is charging for delivery anyway.

Router Bit

What type of router bit are you to use for this
Asked by: Rj
It depends on the letter type. Old English works well with a v-groove bit. Where block type works well with a 1/4" round groove bit. Just experiment and see which one you like. Depth is very important in determining which bit to use.

Some assembly was required. I had a little issue with the router mounting plate where it connected to the arms of the photograph. It was like the screws were just a little to short. However I used a pair of channel lock pliers to press the pieces together. Once assembled I experimented using the old English type and once I got the depth right it was awesome. Although, the other types that came with the kit left a lot to be desired. I went to my computer and made my own letters but it was tricky using because the spacing was off so I had to eyeball the space. Project turned out very well. If I had to give it stars I would rate it a 4 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, excellent value! I purchased the pantograph to carve letters in to oak plaques as part of my son's Eagle Scout project. He was building bat/helmet racks for our town's Little League dugouts and the plaques were engraved with the town initials. It worked very well. Setup was easy, follow the instructions, and practice! Once you are comfortable with the tool, begin carving. Letter templates are great. You can also increase the size by printing letters on 8.5x11 paper to get 6" sized letters. A very good value for the money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works ok but poor plastic Works fine as a pantograph but the plastic locating pins to set reduction are poor as is the router base. The plastic is poor quality or could have been molded poorly. Locating pin was tight in hole and broke when I tried VERY CAREFULLY to pull it out. The slots in the plastic base broke when I tightened the router clamps with only my fingers. There are small thumb screws to insure against overtighening and all I used were my fingers and I ain't no gorilla.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product I really like this product. When I first orders it I was worried that it would be complicated to put together or operate, I was wrong. Even if it doesn't compare to the automated version it's great if your on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product and value for the price. With care this product is capable of amazing work. The nervous and careless may be disappointed. Multiple improvements could be made with corresponding increase in cost. This tool will last a long time with proper care and was cheap enough I could afford it. No complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun tool. Take the time to learn. I purchased this item mainly for lettering purposes but quickly realized that it can be used for anything. Simply draw a project in a CAD program, scale it accordingly, set up your pantograph and go to town. I have a pretty old variable depth router and it fits in the base no problem. There is a nice learning curve to the setup so I recommend taking your time to work through the instructions and watch some youtube videos. All in all excellent purchase and would recommend to any DIYer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does the job Does the job fine. The plastic parts are poor quality. One reducer locator pin broke just trying to get it apart (very carefully) the first time. Was too tight for hole. Plastic mounting base for router is weak where the clamp bolts go through. Again it works but yah gotta be very careful with the plastic.
