I read that the flooring boxes should be opened and exposed to the climate in the room prior to installation. How many days should I do this for?

Answer:
3 1/4" solid flooring should be acclimated until the moisture content of the hardwood and subfloor are within 2% of each other. If you do not have a moisture meter available, a minimum of 72 hours is recommended, although full acclimation may or may not be achieved depending on storage and jobsite conditions.

We have a home built over 70 years ago and it has real hardwood floors that are nailed down and that you have refinish every now and again. The house had additions added to it over time and we'd like to redo the flooring in those areas with hardwood floors, but we want them to match our real hardwood floors as much as possible. I've noticed that a lot of hardwood flooring comes finished and it is made more like laminate flooring so you can't take a floor sander to it and refinish it. I just want to make sure this is like the old time hardwood floors that is literally planks of wood laid down, that you can nail down, stain and refinish as neccessary. Thank you.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful We bought this flooring because it was already in our living room when we purchased the home, so we were matching it to keep going into the kitchen. The color did not match. The original flooring is darker, but we have a huge area rug so you can only see a certain portion of the old flooring. We did a great job of blending and it looks fantastic. The best part is that several years down the road we can have it refinished to all match. This is beautiful flooring and will out last my lifetime. June 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by beware of pieces that are not milled right compared to Bruce or other hardwood products the price is higher and the quality is not . had a lot of trouble with bowed boards , groves and tongues not matching due to poor milling of lumbar.. then there were many smaller pieces and medium ones with few longer ones in each box. Had one bad piece that got installed and went unnoticed until floor was installed past where it is. January 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Was somewhat surprised by the difference in color from the sample at the store. Color was several shades off from sample, but worked out since was a totally separate room from where other flooring was already installed. February 21, 2012
