Answer:
No. If flooring is installed correctly and if subflooring is sturdy, there should be no creaking.

Answer:
No, but some of ours does. We called the company and they said that over time it will get better. In some areas it has and some areas it hasn't. We also had the wood acclimate for about 2 weeks before installing and it didn't make any difference.

Floating floors may exhibit occasional settling noises due to the inherent movement of the floating system, but you would not expect to have consistent or widespread noise. These floors are made to have some cushion underneath which helps when the floor floats over high/low areas that have not been sorted out with floor leveling products. The felt paper would not be enough cushion. I had used the plastic air entrained underlayment and that worked great for the fourteen years we lived in our last house. That said I would never use this Vintage Maple flooring again after our experience. This flooring scratches so easily you would not believe it. It will pit and dent just from putting a chair on it. We put felt pads under all of our chairs yet we still experienced some pitting which really looks bad. I am looking into to trying to finish over these places but the veneer is so thin you could easily sand thru it in a second. If I come across a way to safely finish these problems areas I will post it. In the mean time look for another company and product. This product is poorly made and should not be used on a floor anywhere. Don't be fooled by the "hardness rating" it is for the wood species not the product made with it. Fortunately this is not the case for all engineered products. If I could have found the flooring we had used in our last house I would have used it in this new one and saved myself money and aggravation. Read Less

Answer:
For floating floors, an underlayment pad (foam, cork, etc) designed specifically for floating installations should be used. 15 lb asphalt saturated felt paper is only used as a vapor retarder under nail/staple installations.

Black felt paper can be used, but it would not qualify it as an underlayment.
Felt paper is used just to make a smooth surface before installation.
The only time underlayment is needed is if you decided to install this floor as a floating system. If you glue or nail it down directly to the subfloor, then an underlayment isn't needed.
Again, only use an underlayment if you decide to float the floors. Read More

Again, only use an underlayment if you decide to float the floors. And using felt paper is not considered an underlayment, if this will be floated.

You will be absolutely amazed at how easily this flooring scratches. I swear you can scratch it by looking at it the wrong way. We are shoes off, no pets, very careful and still see scratches everywhere. I don't know how half of them got there. This product was not scratched when we put it down. If you buy this product put down plenty of throw rugs...everywhere!

Answer:
All hardwood floors, even exotic species with extremely high hardness ratings, are susceptible to scratches and indentations. Pet nails should be trimmed regularly, and it may be beneficial to incorporate rugs/runners in their most heavily trafficked areas. You can see additional floor care tips here: http://goo.gl/FwCiE5

Vintage Maple Natural 3/8 in. x 4-1/4 in. Wide x Random Length Engineered Click Real Hardwood Flooring (20 sq. ft./case) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from very happy with the results I am so far very happy with this flooring, but it hasn't had to stand up to a lot of wear yet (recent install). Installed by non-professionals in our own home. Installation required a mallet to get the pieces to click, but once on a roll it was very easy. Very few pieces were unusable, and most "ugly" pieces could be cut as starters or enders. A fair amount of variation between the 35 cases we purchased, so we were pretty careful to mix them. Still, one room has more lighter pieces on average. We were very careful to level the floor before installation with self leveling compound and new plywood if necessary. This is crucial! A few pieces do make a clicking sound. So far it seems like some wood glue under pressure left overnight fixes that. Quality 4/5 only because ideally the top layer would be thicker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Went down nice and looks great Floor went down nice but at first was having trouble locking the boards together. But if you take a cut off peace about six inches wide and put the groove side on a 45 degree angle into the groove side of the floor and tap with a hammer they pop right into place. After that the flooring went in perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what the picture looks like. We purchased this product based on a sample in the store and the picture online. Neither are the same as the actual product. What we received is much lighter in color and and inch and a half wider than the sample in the store or what is depicted in the picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great floor This flooring worked out really well. It has a very good finish and is easy to install. I measured the area to be covered at 101 sq ft. So, based on the specification of 20 sq ft per box, I purchased 6 boxes. It turned out that each box contained 22 sq ft and I only needed 5 boxes. I returned the unopened box with no problems. If you use this product, you will need a good rubber mallet and taping block, along with a good pull bar (do NOT buy the flooring installation kit as I did. It is poorly designed and cheaply made. Ger the Roberts Pro pull bar and tapping block instead.)
