Answer:
Yes. The 6509-31 Milwaukee® 12 Amp Sawzall® will make flush cuts. Depending on the application, we offer a variety of blades for flush cutting. For window and door cut-outs, we offer a Flush Cut Sawzall® Blade (48-00-1600) that will provide straighter cuts and protects the teeth when cutting bottom plates.

Answer:
It's easier to make a plunge cut with the shorter stroke. It's also easier to make cuts if there is something behind the piece you're cutting and the blade may bounce off it. The only benefit to the longer stroke is that it cuts faster.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT TOOL Works great very durable. This tool is a work horse. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does then Job with ease! Powerful saw,cut right thru nails in 2x4. Nice case.Great price! July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A nice saw. It works as expected. The blade change is easy and fast. Speed modulation via the trigger is easy. Low vibration eases accurate cuts. Reasonably lightweight. Feels like it should last. Very comfortable grips. May 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a beast! I was torn between the DeWalt, Makita and Milwaukee saws because they were at around the same price for a 12 amp. Reading online reviews and they all seem to be fine. This is a true work horse. I have cut trees and also pressure treated lumber with this saw. Using it one handed can get tiring though so just be aware of it. The description says 7 lbs but it definitely feels heavier than that (maybe 10lbs) I went to Home depot and compared them. I feel comfortable I made the right decision. I asked three different home depot employees and they all pointed me towards this. Generally you can tell how good a product is by the manufacturer warranty, 5 years versus 3 for the others. May 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Piece of Equipment This sawzall is a really nice tool, and given the chance I would buy this again no questions asked. It is the perfect weight and size for my needs, mostly home projects. So far this has cut wood, metal, drywall and is great, plenty of power but not so much as to foul up/bend blades. And speaking of blades changing them out on this thing is so easy and quick about 2-4 seconds and your cutting. Milwaukee got this tool perfect. October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quality Perfect recip saw for most every occasion. The short stroke helps make it so. Will do it all, unless you need a battery operated one for the times electricity is not available. Mliwaukee is the way to go, I've had many others in my life, but milwaukee makes the best September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent tool I have owned and worn out several recip saws. This is the best one I have ever owned. I chose the short stroke because I wanted control and accuracy and this saw delivers that completely. I need a longer stroke saw someday, they are faster but for most of the work I do, this is fast enough and the accuracy and control is a good trade off. This saw with a new sharp blade will out perform a longer stroke saw with a dull blade. If you need speed and don't care about accuracy, the fastest recip saw is one with orbital action. That will be my next saw purchase for use as a companion to this saw, October 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, priced right The 3/4" stroke works well for our needs which is thin wall steel and stainless steel tubing under vehicles. The saw is pretty quiet and very smooth with a variable speed trigger that is easy to control. The only feature that in my opinion, keeps it from a 5 star rating is the cheap, flimsy foot. If you use this saw on a daily basis, particularly steel tube, it's going to fail. It's just not robust enough for the job. I've used other saws that had a great, strong foot, but it just wasn't as smooth operating as the Milwaukee. May 27, 2014
