Before I own this PVC shear, I used a hand shear that is cost almost as this one! My wrist are hurt after the day. Used my hand saw or my handy 7 1/2 cordless miter saw are other options too. But fine white dust are everywhere. Great idea Milwaukee! An improvement is needed here: next model, made the support lower jaw even flush with the cut groove. Pipe cutted lightly off square because I cann't rest the pipe straight...

Bought it hoping I could use it for central vac pipe unfortunately it is too thin. It crushes the pipe before it cuts it. All other pipe it cuts great.

The cutter was easy to use and makes cutting very quickly. It workers very nicely I the cold were cutting using a manual device hard. I have used to cut all size of plastic pipe, PEX, garden hose. Never ever need new battery after 4 hrs. I would say a god tool for any irrigation work.

If the weather is cold, or your pipe is cold and larger than 3/4" forget it!

Im wondering why I didnt buy this tool a year ago. It would have made my life a lot easier. This tool is fantastic! The only thing I wish is that it could cut a little larger pipe. I work with 2 1/2" a lot and it does not accomodate this size. However I still love the product and think it is an excellent purchase.

If you haven't already endeavored into Milwaukee Tool M12 products and you cut a lot of PVC, make this your first purchase. You can debate whether or not the product line is worth the price, but that debate quickly ends if you use an individual tool with any reasonable frequency.
I don't work with schedule 40 professionally, so when I have needed to make a cut in the past, I've either used a hacksaw, manual pipe cutter with a plastic pipe wheel, or a mitre saw. All methods have left me underwhelmed with the process and finished product. This M12 PVC shear revolutionized the process for me. It cuts without creating any debris. It cuts insanely fast and without effort. You can bring it with you and make cuts even in awkward positions on site as long as there is space for the tool. And it cuts all day without a charge (extended battery). Highly recommend.
Full disclosure: Pay attention to the product dimensions; it is bigger and beefier than I pictured it before it arrived. It cannot make trimming cuts near the end of the pipe (allow for at least 1" of overhang on each side of the blade). Some of the cuts can be skewed if you're not careful, but that is mostly overcome by operator familiarity. And finally because the blade moves to the material, you need good line-of-sight on your intended cut location to ensure accurate placement of the tool.
If you cut a reasonable volume of PVC, whether a single project or random cuts over the next decade, you should strongly consider this PVC shear.

I have arthritis in my hands so it's become difficult for me to use a regular PVC cutter. So I bought this shear and am fully pleased with it. I just started using it yesterday and am amazed with the ease with which it zips through 1 inch pipe. I do have some issues with getting it to make a square cut, but I think that's probably due to my own error in placing the pipe in the cutter's jaws.
