Rated 5 out of 5 by Great snips to last a lifetime, I intend to get the whole set I own a lot of Milwaukee tools, and these certainly fall on the cheaper side of their hand tool line. Considering their size, I wondered why that was. Now that I've tried them, I'm still wondering, because they are well-built, serve their purpose, and some others, masterfully, and appear to be the kind of tool that will last for years. I have fairly mall hands for a man, and these are rather large, which initially looked like it might be a bit of a problem for me, but I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were to use. I wear a size Medium in gloves, if you wear a glove size Small I'd recommend trying these out in the store before purchasing as you might find them a little too large for your taste. Called 'aviation snips', I don't have any airplanes to try these on, but they cut through heavy gauge wire, sheet metal and some small nails like they were soft butter. Having kept them on my kitchen counter for a few weeks, I found myself cutting all kinds of stuff with these with great ease. These have a spring hing that makes using them very easy & efficient, and thankfully solid latch too. The latch to keep them closed is perfectly located to flick open or closed with your thumb. Unlike some of the other Milwaukee tools I've used that had a plastic sliding closure that was prone to become loose & useless, this is a pretty sturdy metal latch that looks like it won't have any trouble standing up to use. While billed as right cutting, I found a could cut to the left without great difficult, though they do feel better and more accurate cutting to the right. For the price, I intend to get the left cutting ones as well. One thing I did notice when opening them was some slight oily residue on the blades. This isn't really a problem, but you might want to take a look for this before setting your new tool on anything you wouldn't want to get a little oil on. If you're thinking of buying these and the similar left cutting & straight cutting snips, you might consider the combo pack that includes all three to save a little money. July 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Put them to good use I recently went under my house to run some surround sound wires and while I was down there I happened to notice some large holes in my duct work where it connected to my plenum under the house. It seems at some point I had standing water under the house and it had rusted out parts of my duct work. Well since I'm cheap and didn't want to pay a contractor I set about trying to round up some of the tools I would need to replace sections of my duct work and these snips fit the bill perfectly. I'm not sure if this is exactly what they are to be used for but they worked perfectly for cutting the ducting. They cut the tin perfectly and cleanly each time. They are comfortable in the hand. You do want to make sure you wear gloves with them so the tin doesn't cut you. I would highly recommend these to anyone who is working on any home project and they need to cut tin. I'm going to be using these things again soon to replace my dryer vent tubing soon. July 29, 2013
