Customer Questions & Answers

do you have a replacement for a tape that has a slight break in it

I have a 25' tape that i recently purchased and just after a short while, less than a month, the tape cracked at the 6" mark. What can i do to repair/replace this item. thanks ken
Asked by: KenA
By the time you purchase a replacement tape, you might as well purchase a new tape measure. Although a bit more expensive, a heavy tape measure will last much longer and pays for itself over the long haul.

16 ft. Magnetic Tape Measure is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 178.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 25'&30' tape measures I bought both tapes. They both broke with less than 30 day use. I do construction work. They do not hold up.

Pros *Finger stop is very useful. *The regular stop works well. *The base has enough grip to stay on the ground without a lock when pulling back off an object on the floor *The back is useful measuring heights with "u-bend method". *The casing is very durable. *Magnet is sometimes helpful for measurements but amazing for picking up dropped metal objects from the ladder. The magnet is very strong, it can hold a 3/4" compression coupling. Cons *The end bends very easily, mine eventually bent enough to break off. *The first inch is almost unreadable. *The magnet can sometimes make measurements more difficult by snapping to other other objects. *The belt snap at the back doesn't fit standard clips-ons on tool belts well. Used it for 3 months before it broke on a job site before it the end broke off. I would recommend this tape if the end didn't bend so easy (and eventually break off). A coworker broke the tape itself after about 3 months as well, but I never had issues with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 Star Performance The tape measure fits well in the hand and has all smooth edges. It is strong, stout, sturdy, accurate and repeatable. You can use your other tape measures for sacrificial purposes or loan them out, caring not if they return.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It was ok until... I bought this tape less then 3 months ago for measuring lumber at my work I haven't used it excessively. First thing I noticed that the metal end is to big and the metal not strong enough so it's bending and throws off measurements constantly second the bottom isn't really all that flat so it likes to tumble over when ur trying to use it. And then today it just ripped in half it got a small tear not even sure how and then it didn't even last the rest of the day just done . And speaking to others I work with the same thing has happened to them to with the Milwaukee. I wouldn't recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fabricators best friend I have had magnetic tape measures in the past, in fact I had one of the first ones ever to come out. Being a welder and fabricator having a magnetic end tape measure is a great thing! This is by far the best magnetic tape measure I have ever come across and works great for my trade. I also like the tough housing because it can take a beating getting kicked around all day, the bar belt holder is much nicer than the normal style clip in my mind also I like the white reverse side as well and the oversized end. It can be difficult to read the first inch but this is usually never a problem I have to worry about. If you work with metal constantly then add one of these to your arsenal. if you need very precise measurement for say detailed woodworking then this isn't the tape for you. Even though I use this tape a lot I still have a large assortment of Fat Max tape measures in my toolbox for super accurate measurement when I'm cutting wood and other things that need super high tolerances. Still I love my Milwaukee magnetic tape measure and it is my go to tape measure!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design I only buy Milwaukee tools, I've just found them to be the best out of everything I've tried in the last 15 years, but this tape sucks. In my opinion, it has a huge design flaw which is the bottom is not flat enough for it to stay standing up. For example if you pull the tape out to measure something it will keep falling over while you try to mark your line. Very annoying especially when your work involves lots of measuring and cutting. The hook is also way too big. Some people like that, personally I don't because it makes the tape measure sit at a slight incline which further adds to its inability to stay standing up since it's not very flat to begin with. Again I love Milwaukee so I'm not hating on the name, but for someone like me who uses a tape measure everyday all day for work, it just does not cut it.
