I have had magnetic tape measures in the past, in fact I had one of the first ones ever to come out. Being a welder and fabricator having a magnetic end tape measure is a great thing! This is by far the best magnetic tape measure I have ever come across and works great for my trade. I also like the tough housing because it can take a beating getting kicked around all day, the bar belt holder is much nicer than the normal style clip in my mind also I like the white reverse side as well and the oversized end. It can be difficult to read the first inch but this is usually never a problem I have to worry about. If you work with metal constantly then add one of these to your arsenal. if you need very precise measurement for say detailed woodworking then this isn't the tape for you. Even though I use this tape a lot I still have a large assortment of Fat Max tape measures in my toolbox for super accurate measurement when I'm cutting wood and other things that need super high tolerances. Still I love my Milwaukee magnetic tape measure and it is my go to tape measure!

Some neat features but the hook is big and not that strong. I am just a diy guy and have had to try and bend the hook back to get acurate measurements. Im not hard on my tools either. And now the lock doesnt lock the tape anymore. I would prefer a tape that makes accurate measurments and locks. All the other gadgets are great if the main parts still work. Just be careful when the hook hooks on something not to pull on it, otherwise it will bend.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AngryDrumGuy Waste of money, for so many reasons...
Milwaukee's magnetic tapes are over-engineered garbage. The small magnet in the tip is centered, limiting contact points. There's a second magnet on the blade for pipe measuring, but it's useless on non-ferrous metals. The tape lock isn't firm, allowing the slightest back pressure to move it. All of the ones I've tried in stores have the same tape lock problems as well. The 16's are the worst.
Also, the first inch of the Milwaukee tape is almost unreadable, as it's covered by a massive plastic tab and the base is so thin, the tape tends to fall over when measuring things like lumber and pipe where you need the tape to stand alone so you can mark the material because the bottom profile is too thin.
There's an annoying plastic whistle produced by the Milwaukee tape moving through the casing and the uncentered blade top hooks toward the side won't catch anything less than 1" and again, the second magnet is useless for pvc, aluminum, copper, etc.
If I hadn't received the Milwaukee tape as a free gift with an M12 purchase, I would have returned it.

Easy to use. Only thing that is odd is how hard the belt holder clip is right now, but on others it ia super loose so i would rather have it hard than loose.

Just buy it. Can't go wrong with the best. I use this model professionally every day. I won't go back to Stanley or other brands. Wish they made these things in the states.

The tape is great but the very first inch is hard to read because the clip on the end is so big. Despite that it is still a great tape
