Confused about this model 5616-24 kit and the H-D description; why are there inconsistencies?

The description mentions a 1-3/4 hp and a 2-1/4 hp motor. Is it the 2-1/4 hp model? The description also mentions that there is no variable speed; however, "EVS" is variable speed. Does this model have a collet lock or does it require two wrenches?

Answer:
It is a 2-1/4 hp motor. It is also variable speed, I believe 7 or 8 different speed settings. It does not have a collet lock, you need two wrenches but they are included with the kit.

Answer:
5616-24 from Home Depot was a 2-1/4 HP. Yes it is variable speed. This model contains two collets, one 1/4", and one 1/2". It requires two supplied wrenches to change a bit, it does not have a "quick change collet".

I am using my Milwaukee router with a Porter router table and the holes line up perfect. The base plate has several options for use with multiple router tables. I really don't think you will have any issues.

I'm looking to buy this and the PC dove tail jig but I want to make sure they are compatible. Here is the jig: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/100609458?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100609458&R=100609458#.Uff5TGRxuQg

If this is compatible what other accessories would I need to purchase?

Answer:
Hi D, this model router will work with the Porter Cable dovetail jigs. The Porter Cable dovetail jig comes with a template guide. This is what keeps the router bit from cutting into the jig. Some of the Porter Cable models come with multiple templates and router bits.
Other accessories to consider is different size template guides. Watch some video on How To use the Porter Cable dovetail jig.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good purchase I been looking for a router like this for some time, and that's what I need July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase. Excellent piece of equipment. Would recommend, slow start function is key. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy, reliable and accurate I'm very happy with my new Milwaukee router. The two bases swap out easily and the depth adjustment is both easy and precise with either base. The only minor negative is the case. Not all the parts stay in place. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Impressed with my First Router The router feels comfortable and easy to handle with the Body Grip. Not nearly as loud as i had anticipated. The motor is easy to switch between bases and all the depth controls are easy to adjust and accurate. I look forward to seeing how it works when mounted in a table. Just another solidly-built tool by Milwaukee. And by the way, I disagree with others' comments about the case. It protects the tools well and who really cares about the size of cases? I had read and watched a ton of reviews online and was on the fence between this kit and Bosch's. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this router to all and have no regrets with my purchase. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great power tool for woodworking The unit is easy to use with plenty of horsepower to accomplish the toughest woodworking projects. All of the Milwaukee Tools are great and rank highest on my list of performance power tools. August 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Love it Ok we all know Bosch Model # 1617EVSPK is well know to be a great router. I Owned it my self but did not last so I decided to try this Milwaukee.. Here is whats better from Milwaukee vs Bosh, Milwaukee: 1. Rubber grips 2. WAY better to remove from plunge and fix base. 3. A lot less vibration 4. Comes with a centering pin 5. The body grip, yea you have to try it to believe it. Here is whats better from Bosh Vs Milwaukee Bosh: 1. The plunge feels smother has less resistance. 2. Box it came with 3. Router Guide Options 4. Soft start My personal opinion, Milwaukee wins. January 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent router. High quality tool. The problem of slipping of the motor unit in the base was resolved by adjusting the tension on the clamp. Not a problem and easily done. Better quality than Porter-Cable. About the same as Festool. Dust collection is about the same as Festool. More attachments available for the Festool 1400. I found an excellent edge guide (no longer available from Milwaukee) from a guy on-line that makes acryilc bases and edge guides. Very good workmanship. Pat Warner, if you want to see his products.
