Why would someone need 5 of these?

Why would someone need 5 of these?
Asked by: RBurgundy
Screw tips wear out over time, which leads to stripped screws and/or difficulty driving them flush. They also tend to get lost from time to time. On a bigger job, one could expect to go through a lot of tips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I got tired of changing out generic bits, and I had a large playhouse to assemble, so I bought a pack of these. I was expecting to use them all, but I built the whole playhouse with one bit! It was probably about 500 screws, various lengths from 1-1/2 to 3 inch, all into hardwood. I used a Milwaukee 18v impact driver. The bit never slipped on any of the screws, and nothing broke. When I was done, the black oxide was worn off the tip, but the actual metal was in really good shape. For the price, totally worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great traction and holding power I am using these philips bits in a DeWalt 20V drill. It is not an impact tool but they work very well. I am currently installing HVAC duct work and driving lots of small screws. With some of my previous bits I have had to change out the bits on a rather frequent basis when they start to slip. I am still using the first of these bits and so far no slippage. They seem to be very hard and resistant to getting worn and smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality! These bits are the best I've tried. They last and don't strip out like many others off the shelf. I've used one for building an entire out-building and never lost it's bite!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DON'T BOTHER A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! These are not any better than the cheapest bits you can get. I went through 3 bits in one day. The first one snapped the shaft on the 3rd screw. The second one had the teeth broke off about 10 screws in. the 3rd wore out by the end of the day. I was building a cedar fence so this wasn't a problem from the wood being too hard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bit Used one bit to build an entire deck with an impact driver and no problems. Still using the same bit for other projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from better than standard Philips bits These bits do seem to work better and longer than the normal Philips bits that are available. I'm not sure if it was just the last two packages that I purchased had slipped by any quality control measures that are taken at the plant, but they didn't last as long as the other packages I've purchased in the past. They were still better than the normal Philips bits that are available but for the price I'm kind of wondering. I will buy them again and hopefully these were just poor packages...
