Product Overview

Milwaukee’s one piece carbide tipped core bits are ideal for drilling large holes in brick, block, and concrete. The asymmetric tooth pitch with alternating tooth geometries for up to 20% faster drilling speeds. The one piece design maximizes energy transfer and the thick wall core body is durable in large hammers. The fluted core exterior minimizes friction loss and removes debris faster. Core bit cut with the outer cutting edge only. The inside core must be removed to allow for deeper hole drilling applications beyond 3". Centering bit 48-20-5495 (included) is recommended for exact spot drilling and to avoid bit wandering during use. The drift key 48-20-5497 (not included) allows for easy removal of the centering bit. The one piece core bits are available in SDS-Max or Spline shanks, ranging from 1-1/2” to 6” diameters and overall lengths of 11-3/8” or 22”, with a drilling depth of 3”.

3-1/8 in. x 11-3/8 in. SDS-Max Core Bit is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not there yet This bit needs some refinement. My main gripe is the arbor keeps falling out. I tried setting it with a hammer to no avail. I finally tried welding it in and all that did was weaken the arbor bit so it just snapped off. Now it's basically worthless. A lot on $ for a lot of hassle.

I thought that the pin that holds it in place was stolen at the store so I exchanged it for the same bit and it also fell out. Try hauling this thing up and down a 30 foot extension ladder twice to find out the bit was just junk. I have 3" 9/16 core bit by Bosch that has a locking pin. Used it for hours with no problem. I have to now order the 4" Bosch and delay this job for several days. Very disappointing since I own many of Milwaukee products. Oh and I hate writing reviews, this angered me this much.

Anyone that uses rotary hammers professionally knows that when it comes to bits, you want German-made, as this high-quality Milwaukee product is. As I do almost exclusively residential work, a rotary hammer is not a primary tool for me. When it comes to core bits, I prefer these one-piece units, for their ease of use. Unit comes fully assembled, ready to be put to work. The unit is 11-3/8" in length to the tips of the carbide cutters, and with a cutting depth of 3". Note - this bit is for use in SDS-Max units only (at least without an adapter). Rotary hammers can come with one of a variety of different chuck configurations, so be sure that SDS-Max-shanked bits are what yours utilizes. SDS-Plus shank looks extremely similar, but they are not interchangeable.
