This bit is the best and most efficient drill for glass and porcelain tile I have found. I used it to install grab bars in glass mosaic tile, and it worked great. A nice clean hole to anchor to the studs through. Perfect! I started the holes like the directions said (start at an angle) and dipped the bit in water every so often.

I used another pointed tile bit to start the hole and this one to finish. I wish there was a way to clean out the center of the bit. I used a cup of water to dip the bit in to keep it wet. I went about 80% of the way through then finished the holes with a rotary hammer and hammer bit. I tried using the rotary hammer to start with, but it tends to chip out the surface of the tiles and can crack the tiles. The bit will last about a dozen holes if you keep it wet and are conservative with the speed and pressure.

A wonderfully useful and effective diamond grit hole saw for drilling small holes in porcelain and stone. This thing goes thru these hard materials like butter and makes a clean hole. With this awesome bit there is no reason for masonry or glass/tile bits that take forever and only last 2 or 3 holes before becoming dull and useless. This drilled thru 6 porcelain holes and is still like new. Always use a little water or you will burn bits of this type up quickly from overheating them.

After struggling to drill some 3/16 in holes through 3/8 in Italian ceramic tile using the Bosch carbide tipped bits, I finally gave up and returned the bits to Home Depot (who graciously provided a full refund) and purchased a 3/16 Milwaukee Diamond Plus hole saw. What a difference! In the time it took to drill one hole using the Bosch carbide bit, I was able to drill four holes with the Milwaukee diamond bit AND complete the grab bar installation in my shower. Drilling ceramic tile is not the same as drilling softer materials like wood for example. It requires patience. Still, I was pleased with how the Milwaukee diamond bit performed. My only concern is that the bit is easily clogged with the core after the first hole. Removal of the core from the hole saw is a nuisance but necessary for drilling efficiency of subsequent holes.

Used one saw to drill 30+ holes through very hard ceramic tile. Took it easy and used lots of water but got job done with no broken tiles. I bought 3 hoping for 10 holes per bit. Ended up returning 2! Tried spade-type bit first, but no comparison to these Milwaukee bits. Used a piece of sheet metal with 3/16" drilled hole taped to the wall as a starting guide for each each hole. Worked perfectly.

Was begging to think I would never get the whole in the tile drilled. Found this one. Hallelujah. It worked and worked great and quick. One note. I used a squirt bottle to drip water on the surface while drilling and it helped a lot.

One tip - Keep a cup of water close to dunk the bit so it stays cool and the head doesn't glaze over, and it'll perform as long as you need it to.
