First off this hole saw is made very well, but must have a very large torque monster drill behind it.
High speed is not your friend here. I have drilled through very heavy ribbed ABS plastic, if this saw catches on an uneven surface like something ribbed or perforated hold on for dear life and get your finger off the trigger fast. Keep the speed down,,way down and take your time cutting as a hole saw this size has 5 inches of surface area creating friction and it will get hot faster than you would expect and burn the blade softening it and ruining the temper of the steel.
If your in a hurry spend up for a carbide bladed hole saw but if you keep the speed down this one will last for years and cut a lot of big 5 inch holes for you.
I always welcome another great tool from Milwaukee in my tool box but I am sad much of it is being made in China now..

It cost more than knock offs, but is worth the price in the end, you won't be disappointed.

We used this tool to cut holes in Masonite, 1/2" plywood, 1X6 lumber and 2X8 lumber. It worked good in all applications. I would recommend drilling from both sides on thick wood to have cleaner edges and it also makes the "wood washer" easier to remove from the bowl of the cutter.

I bought this hole saw to cut a hole for a drain pipe through my newly-installed laminate floor. After cutting down less than 1/16 inch, it was completely dull! $40 down the drain! I had to finish the cut with a saber saw, which cut the material with ease, although I didn't get the nice round hole I had hoped the hole saw would give me. I always thought Milwaukee made high quality tools, but this hole saw was a total waste of money. The "ice hardening" didn't apparently do the trick. Might be OK in soft wood or plastic, but I'll never know as it's totally useless now.
