Does the Milwaukee shear cut galenized Roofing?

Will the Milwaukee electric shear 18 gauge model 6852-20 cut ribbed galvanized sheet roofing? Satisfactory/ease?
Asked by: Emmett
I brought this tool for a roof job based on the previous answers and I am here to tell you these shears were useless to me due to the fact they WILL NOT cut over the metal ribs. They cut flat sections but that is it,

Will this tool cut 26g galvanized flashings?

Asked by: Angelfish
Yes. It will go down to 18 gauge, which is much heavier than 26 gauge. I use mine for 20 and 22 gauge material all the time with no issues.

6.8 Amp 18-Gauge Shear is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Price was right, easy to use, and cuts well. Ease of use was big plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Milwaukee shears are the best This is my second pair of Milwaukee shears, and I will buy no other brand. The first pair still works; however, I haven't been able to find a replacement head for it because it is 8 years old. When the first pair broke, I replaced it with a Dewalt shear, which lasted a few months, then another Dewalt shear, which lasted a few weeks, and then a Kawasaki shear, which lasted three cuts! I use the shears on up to 14 gauge welded wire, and only Milwaukee can handle the job. The other two brands are best used as boat anchors. Milwaukee shears are THE BEST.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review of Milwaukee Electric Shear The shears are great but have their limitations as all tools do. They cut effortless through the standard 18 to 10 guage metal and make sheet metal work safer and almost effortless. I should have bought one like this 20 years ago. I know I would have saved a lot of blood throughout those years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pushed this shear to the limit. So I was unsure if this would work for cutting stainless steel. I thought I would give it a try at least. Its a good tool company and the worst that could happen is I would have a new tool that couldnt cut type III 20 gauge stainless. It was a little difficult at times but it powered though the large shearing job in a matter of minutes compared to the time it would take to cut it with an abrasive wheel or plasma. I was very impressed and happy with the results. It turns easily and is very well built. I havent owned it very long but I am certain it will be at hand for many years to come. I would say this though that I would go past 20 guage thickness in stainless with it. Otherwise you will be cussing your head off trying to force it through the very tough metal. Either way you will have a good electric shear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great performance from this tool This electric shear has reduced time needed to trim large panels and fit smaller ones, too. The cut is clean and even and it is easy to control. The only problem we see with this, is when cutting lighter gauge stock, it can strtch and ripple the metal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Specialty FRP Shears Shears ease of operation is second to none for FRP installation. They hold up well and the quality of the blades keep the tool in use daily. We have not worn out a set of blades (jaws) in this tool as of yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cutting Metal Roofing I purchased this tool to cut Master Rib metal roofing. I was amazed that it would not cut across the raised ribs and had been led to believe it would be no trouble to do so. I had gone to the Master Rib roofing website and they showed a similar tool although not a Milwaukee shear. They cut the video of a cut being made just before a raised rib would have been encountered........................? I believe in having the right tool for the job but it may be that this is not the right tool. If anyone is going to try and cut metal roofing I would not recommend this tool if the metal has any rises in it. I did notice it cut very well in the flat areas.
