Customer Reviews

8 Amp 1/2 in. Magnum Drill is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from extreme heavy duty drill I purchased this drill for use in a Welding and Fabrication Shop. It received extreme heavy duty use. The drill performed very well. It was the only brand we found that held up under our heavy duty use. This drill should work for anyone if it worked for my fabguys under these difficult work conditions. I am sure you will be satisfied with the performance of this well-designed product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was really disappointed. I ordered 2 of these drills for Christmas presents and when I went to ... I was really disappointed. I ordered 2 of these drills for Christmas presents and when I went to wrap them noticed one box had written DNI all over it. I opened the box, which had been taped shut, to find a used drill, very dirty and I was mortified. I called the store and was told that DNI means Do Not Inventory and was the display drill. They have promised to replace it, I am returning it today. Hope they have one in stock, since time is short and I need it for a Christmas gift, in 11 days. Which is why I ordered it to be picked up at the store, to save me time in shopping! Other than that I think it is a good drill.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good drill so far but.... This drill has a lot of power but like in the one star review on this product my chuck started to come loose on first use with a 3/4 auger when drilling through telephone poles even thought the drill barely even strained. So i tightened the chuck back one the drill removed the chuck set screw cleaned and put it back with blue threadlocker. after waiting the recommended 24 hours for threadlocker to set i then used the largest auger 1 1/4 inch I had one a scrap pole and had no issues so far. if i do i will be posting another review. I recommend tightening chuck and applying blue threadlocker to setscrew, otherwise you will break it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This beast does it all!!!! I bought this milwaukee drill to end my 5 hour frustration with a cordless drill. Needless to say, this beast took care of the "5 hour" job in less than 5 minutes. Paid for itself in less than 5 minutes, highly recommended!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from lots of power I bought this drill to drill holes into 4x4 posts, had no problems , went right through it like it was butter. Tried using it to drive screws through 2x6s, I could not handle the power, this tool is not ideal for driving screws, there is no clutch settings like the cordless drills so basically i was guessing at the depth of my screws. I tried using it for my 3" holesaw, too powerful for this also, have to watch the kickbacks when using it with a holesaw. This drill is ideal for drilling holes, mixing, or using with a wire brush, but anything else I would go with a cordless. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone that needs a lot of holes to drill, but to use just to drive screws, no.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Milwaukee 0299-20 Magnum vs. Dewalt DW235G This review will compare the Milwaukee 0299-20 Magnum and the Dewalt DW235G. Similar drills from a specification perspective. I purchased the Milwaukee drill initially due to all the rave online reviews at Amazon and Home Depot. It seemed like it was well put together. I bought this specifically to drill holes in railroad ties for rebar pins. I used it with a Bosch 3/4" by 9" daredevil auger bit. The first few holes went well. Then the drill started to bog down a lot requiring me to back it out often to clear the debris. Not a huge deal. But then the bit bound and the entire chuck assembly snapped and fell off. There was an alan bolt inside the assembly that sheered completely and the drill was ruined. I thought maybe I just got a bad drill. So I took it back to Home Depot (it was cheaper there than Amazon) and they exchanged it after I explained what happened. I manually freed the bit and started over with the Milwaukee replacement drill. Drilled the next hole and ran into the same frequent binding. This time I looked at the chuck assembly and noticed that it was unscrewing itself from the body of the drill. I stopped immediately before the drill broke and tried to tighten the assembly up manually but it wouldn't move. So I returned the Milwaukee and opted for the Dewalt DW235G. It also had good reviews and was very similar from a power perspective. Brought the Dewalt home and went to work. Powered through the rest of my railroad ties with no issues. The bit did get slightly bound up at times, even to the point where I had to uncouple it from the drill and manually back it out of the ties, but the drill never showed any signs of coming apart like the Milwaukee. It was powerful and did a great job on a tough project. I did like the side handle better on the Milwaukee, as it had grooves to slot it in to keep it tight. The Dewalt does not have grooves and the handle did come loose once but for the most part it was fine. The Milwaukee also seemed to have better variable speed control. The Dewalt is okay but the trigger was more sensitive and made it ramp up quick if I didn't use an extremely light touch. The Dewalt felt more solid, worked better for me, and was $40.00 cheaper. I would recommend the DW235G if you are looking for something in the corded 8 amp category.
