Asked by: safe
You can get a discount by either setting up hd credit card or pro account and you save on large purchases. Or you can go to the store and talk to the milwaukee representative (most stores have them). I bet he or she will give you a good deal on that many. Hope this helps years later.

Customer Reviews

Fastback Utility Knife is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 134.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am in love with this knife. I bought the smooth blade wrist-flip model at Home Depot and after the 10% military discount it cost less than $10 after tax. The blade is a surprisingly good qualitrly stonewashed stainless steel and it was razor sharp directly out of the packaging. So far, it has maintained an outstanding edge and without the tanto tip, anodizing or searations it will be easier to sharpen than the spring-assist model by orders of magnitude. The smooth rigid-wire pocket-clip is positioned for tip-down carry deep in the right-hand pocket and the knife is almost invisible when you put it away. When it does come out the familiar red handle and Milwaukee logo say "tool" not "weapon" which makes nervous people less so. There are no sharp edges on the pocket-clip to catch on anything besides your trousers (as intended) or to scratch your vehicle; and the clip doesn't add unnesessarily to the weight. There is a small ledge on the side of the handle to slip the knife easily out of your pocket. The clip can also be repositioned for tip-up left hand carry. It only took about twenty minutes of practicie for me to completely master the "wrist-flip" opening technique and it was actually fun learning to do it effortlessly. This feature is lightning fast (especially after a short break in period and a couple drops of oil). It also makes an unsightly hole in the blade the spring, and thumb studs (that snag your pants pocket) complete unnecessary. The grip has a nice indentation that reveals plenty of blade surface for slow two-handed opening when a less flashy presentation is aporoprtate and the absence of a spring makes that process very easy. The same indentation provides easy access to the liner lock and it anchors the fore-finger to the handle when the knife is in use. There is also jimping on the liner lock to comfortably grip your index finger as well as thumb-jimping where the choil pivots in the handle. Consequently, this knife is very easy to grip tightly and to control when applying force to the edge. Aside from the liner lock to hold the blade open, there is a thumb-button frame lock to hold it closed. The stainless steel liners give this knife the rigid feel of a fixed-blade model with a full tang and they add enough heft to the handle to make it secure and comfortable in the hand for heavier tasks. When closed the blade is well- centered with no interference from the liner edges. If the blade position ever requires adjustment there are mini-torx threaded fasteners on both sides of the pivot. In fact the knife has open-architecture and can be completely disassembled by the owner for cleaning and lubrication. a feature rarely available even on the most expensive knives and multi-tools. There is a lanyard hole which is extremely useful for securing the knife while working on a ladder. The rigid plastic grips are rugged and have good traction. They are ideal for challenging work environments where heat cold dirt grease and moisture make using a knife difficult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Set Surprisingly, the part of this set I've found myself using the most often is the utility knife. The blade locks into place securely and is very sharp right out of the packaging. I also love the way the blade is exposed when it's closed so it can be used as a safety cutter for straps, belts, zip ties, etc. The knife is quality as well - the blade is sharp and it has a nice balance to it. I really like the push-button blade release. My only complaint is that the same button doesn't release the blade for closure on the knife. Personally, I think that would be more convenient & intuitive. Regardless, great set!

The clip alone gets 5 stars. When it gets loose, remove it put in vise or some pliers and back to new. There are other knifes that hold the blade more securely and others that are smaller and just as useful. But for comfort, weight, durability , easy one handed opening and the clip, it is the best one out there. I have had both versions and this one is better in my opinion. It does not have the storage, but its more durable that way. Another great Milwaukee product. 3 years for one knife (lives on with a friend), 2 years for the one with storage (Still kickin) and 2 months with new one and pocket knife (thanks black friday)

Yes it is possible to one handed open the knife. However that requires a perfect flick of wrist. The addition of a thumb stud would need what's needed. Now the next problem the clips. These are the most pathetic clips I've ever seen. After one day the clip on the utility knife wore the paint off the knife. The second day the clip got caught on edge wa.king and mangled. I've had paper clips harder to bend than these clips. Worthless clip. The reason everyone else uses solid clips and thumb studs, they work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combo set! Both of these knives are well constructed and make a great addition to the tool box. The Camo knife opens easily and is very sharp. The case is lightweight but very durable and has stood up to the abuse I've already put it through. The utility knife has a quick blade change feature and is a great companion to the camo knife. As always, I believe that Milwaukee makes some of the best tools around and this set is no exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No-frills dependable knife If you're looking for a no-frills, basic, yet dependable knife, this is a great value. Although I'm partial to my other Milwaukee knife, this version certainly gets the job done. It does take a good flick of the wrist to actually get it to open one-handed and it definitely requires both hands to close due the locking mechanism. The utility knife is just icing on the cake with this packaged deal - hard to beat for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice! When I received this knife I was not able to open or close it. I sprayed some WD-40 on the springs and it finally worked. I never owned one like this before and I love it. Also, the camouflage look is too cool. My neighbor came over and said that he had never seen one like it. I told him don't even think about it, knowing since he was ex-military that he would like to have it. No go. I am glad to have this.

Just received this set, but since this is a set, I'm having to average-out my rating. The Utility Knife is hands-down a 5-star item for me. It's strong and opens and closes quickly. The Camo Knife, (#48-22-1990) not so much. It appears that it will be several months before the knife wears enough to work properly. Unlike the experience of other reviewers, my knife does not open quickly and easily. I've lubricated and tried to adjust the hinge screws to loosen it, but since the blade is pressing against an overly aggressive "nodule" during its arc, there is still too much resistance. Also, as others have noted, the Utility knife opens and closes after the button is pressed. Wish they could have include that on the camo knife! The knives are made in China, which may explain the use of a liner-lock on the camo knife. Should this knife improve over time, I'll file an amended review, but right now, I'm not impressed.
