Hey bcnulater!
I was wondering that myself so I took a look at Table 5 of The National Electrical Code, NFPA 70 NEC. If you run into the old RH (rubber covered) it would be a size 1/0. The early type T would be a 3/0. The present type THHN and XHHW wire is the same at 3/0. Table 5A with the compact conductors gets you to 4/0. If you do HVAC work you can always measure the load side of the factory

If you do HVAC work you can always measure the load side of the factory disconnect. For example; I just ran #6 to a Mitsu split recently only to see that they have #14 on the load side! No different ratio on the big splits or roof tops. It IS designed for HVAC/R work.

Hi Phil, This is a pretty rugged meter. One of the HVAC people I know has one and it goes from the rooftops to the basement by way of the crewl space to the compressor mezzanine back to the tool bag, no problem.

Answer:
A lot of consideration went into determining whether or not to include a protective case. We found that users didn't necessarily want a protective case because they typically had one, or they had an alternative way of carrying the meter.

My Klein has a magnet on the back for going hands free, I'm able to stick the meter to the box or equipment and get the leads or probes into tight spots and still view the data.
Of not, I suppose I could JB Weld one on.

Fork Meter for HVAC/R is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't expect it to last I am an electrician and used this regularly. I was pleased with this meter for daily use until the rotary dial broke on it. it is plastic "teeth" connected to brass that facilitates the rotation to select the proper reading. The plastic teeth disintegrated. This is the first Milwaukee meter I purchased during my career always choosing Fluke as my meter of choice. I have Fluke meters that I have used for 20+ years that are still operating and have not had issues with. I looked up the repair cost for this meter and it is 75% of the cost of a replacement. Not to mention the shipping and handling, and the trouble of taking it to fed-ex to ship. So, the cost will be more than the replacement cost. So I will toss this into the trash, where it belongs, and go buy a fluke.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not for winter I purchased solely on credivility of milwaukee brand. I own a hvac company, I use it on every call, and during the cold winter the display freezes and needs to be warmed up for like 20 minutes for it to work. It's less than a year old and it just died completely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not reliable Chose this for features for use at work. Noticed temperature was not right, compared to two other devices - the other two matched each other - this was off by more than 4 degrees. Purchased new probe, also way off and very, very slow for temperature readings. New probe banana connections very loose also. Can not trust this meter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is an absolutely great product if you are working with both AC and DC control voltages. The best feature and selling point of this meter is that is reads both AC and DC on one setting.
