Would the harness stil be useful if padded belt were fitted to a smaller person?

The connectors on the front of padded belt look to be sewn to the belt. So if the belt is tightened to say 32 inches it would close the space between the harness straps and bring them to the center. In my opinion they would be useless for smaller people. One size fits all? Hmmm.

Answer:
I don't have that issue unfortunately, but you could have something under it to make it fit better. All the weight is carried on the shoulders. If you are also small in stature the belt may hang lower than you want too. I do not know how short you can make the suspension straps. I am 6' 2" and it can hang low on me.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looks better than what it is I would love the product if it would be as comfortable to work with without the suspenders other than that the bag has a good setup without suspenders it is impossible to wear I prefer to work without them. If I would have known I would never have bought it. October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Why don't they sell this in store? So far I'm extremely impressed with this tool belt. It's been put through very heavy use for about a month now and my only complaint is there is no tape measure clip, just a small pouch. I prefer the clip for easier access. That's the only reason this didn't get 5 stars. The belt is great and has a stiffener inside which actually really helps. The suspenders are nice and adjustable and actually stay put. It's a little hot but just about any rig is. I love the pocket set up and I added the m12 drill holster which is amazing as well. I can carry a ridiculous amount of tools and it feels much lighter than my previous rig from dead on tools. I'm pretty much sold on Milwaukee now and I do not have any affiliation with them what so ever. I just wish Home Depot carried more of their tools and accessories August 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Plenty of pockets in all the right places So far I love this tool bag! It's very well thought out with plenty of big pockets, adjustment and the suspension rig is very comfortable. Very good placement of the phone pocket although I wish they also had storage in the same area for pencils. September 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied This is comfortable and adjustable. No issues with room or design. August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by If you have a small waist don't buy this tool belt. Shoulder straps come loose during use. Good design. Does not fit well if your waist is 36" or less. Shoulder straps do not hold tight during use. Well built but expensive. June 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy with the work belt. Belt cannot fit a 32" waist and shoulder straps loosen during use. The belt cannot be adjusted for a 32" waist. the shoulder straps loosen by themselves. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent quality for the money. I've been a union carpenter for 20 years. I bought these as a compromise between spending the money for Occidental's or buying the cheap poorly designed Husky bags. These are designed fairly good for the most part but here is the bad in my opinion: 1. Speed square holder is poorly designed, my square regularly falls out. Very bad deal if you're working up high. 2. Tape measure pocket. Personally I like a clip to hold my tape secure when I'm working up high. 3. Suspenders won't stay where you adjust them. I'd adjust mine all the way up in the morning and by lunch they've dropped 2". I wrapped electrical tape around the suspenders under the clips, this has kept them from slipping since. 4. The belt is very light, I can't see it lasting very long. I think these are pretty decent bags for $100 but I just wish that guys that actually use tools and equipment had more input in their design than someone sitting in one of the office buildings that we build. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High quality, comfortable Anyone who uses a work belt a lot knows that the shoulder belt style is essential to extended comfort. Good amount of padding, but still fits tight to the body. Material feels very thick and durable. Good number of pockets. Does include the front pocket for a smaller cell phone. Pricey, but if you need a professional grade work belt this should last you years and save your back. January 7, 2015
