I returned a unit today because the clutch did not work. What gives?
I have used Milwaukee tools for years and am afraid the new stuff from China is second rate.

Answer:
The clutch is electronic not mechanical. Once the the clutch is set you have to drive the screw with constant speed for it to work. It's not like the old type where it would slip and make a noise (which I prefer). The drill stops turning once torque setting is reached. You CAN'T feather the speed while driving the screw, must be constant speed. I like the old type better, oh well.

Answer:
Yes it does! It's a great small tool and now is the first one I reach for when I have a project. I'm 65 and have done the full spectrum on cordless tools. Years ago I was a Makita fan, then used DeWalt for a few years, and now have predominately Milwaukee tools. I love them! I am currently a retired electrician, but still use cordless and power tools regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A DRILL FOR THE TRICKY PROJECTS I HAVE HAD MILWAUKEE 90 DEGREES DRILLS IN THE PAST, ,, BUT CORDLESS IS THE WAY TO GO, WHEN YOUR WORKING IN A TIGHT SPOT, TRUCK, ENGINE COMPARTMENT, PLUMBING, YOU HAVE THE REACH AND ALL THE ADVANTAGES, NO CORD TO HOLD YOU BACK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes 16" O.C. seem more like 24" O.C. A+ all around for this tool, Comfortable to handle & operate (especially with the variable-speed paddle switch), a smooth ratcheting chuck, and lightweight - even when using an XC Battery (which also adds a bit of balance, as well as the ability to stand upright). Note: If you think that one of your LED's is burned-out - it isn't: One is for illumination, the other for Overload Signal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from life saver I just purchased this drill because I needed something compact to drill some broken exhaust studs out of aluminum head on my truck. This tool allowed me to do the job with out removing the head from the block saving lots of time and frustration. Although this drill is not rated or ever intended to be used on metal it was able to handle bits up to 21/64 to complete the job. Pro's Light weight, fast charge, very long run time per charge, electric clutch Con's (not that this is really a negative but...) Electronic overload protection wont allow you to push the drill beyond design. I’ve been interested in the 12v line up and as a happy 18v owner this was the perfect excuse to give it a try

Rated 5 out of 5 by from About time I have been waiting for years for Milwaukee to come out with this item. I used this type of drill by another manufacaturer at work, but refused to buy one for myself until now. This drill itself is similar to the others. What makes it the best is Milwaukee's batteries. And specifically the larger capacity (optional) battery that is available for this drill. It eliminates the two problems with the NiCad batteries that the earlier drills used. They lost charge and had very poor capacity. Milwaukee got it right!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Angle Drill I was needing a right angle drill to complete the installation of four drawers that I had made for my daughter's cabinet. The installation required drilling a 1" hole thru 3/4" plywood with a holesaw to re-run some electrical cable that was in the way of the new drawers. In searching on the internet, I found some really cheap ($29.95) angle drills, but their reviews were terrible. I found this drill in the Home Depot website and went to the store and picked one up. It was perfect for the job; very compact and well made with the power that you would expect in a 12V model. I pushed it too hard a couple of times and stalled it. No problem, you see a red light and the drill stalls, but upon releasing the trigger, it will start back up normally. I learned how hard I could push the holesaw and had no more problems. It was used also to drill some small (3/32") pilot holes with no problems, of course. One plus was the LED light that focuses on your work. However it appears that it has two LEDs, but only one lit up. I dropped by Home Depot today to see if maybe one of the lights was not working and the customer rep pulled another new one from stock to see if it had two LEDs. It appeared to have two (just like mine) but only one worked. I supposed that this is the way it is designed, but it certainly looks like therre are two. The one works fine and if that is the was it is supposed to be, I am happy with the drill and would highly recommend it even thought it is a bit pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Drill Great product. Works well in tight places. Battery lasts long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery Building Essential Tool I bought this specifically to do one job: to build large strings of batteries. The job involves doing (and undoing) the battery terminal bolts in areas with restricted headroom. The bolts are not done up that tight (12Nm). Even after 600 operations, the drill battery was still about half charged, as shown by the fuel level meter (a handy thing). Staggering performance for such a small battery. It would be nice to be able to replace the chuck with a fixed ½" or 3/8" square adaptor as the combination of chuck, adaptor and socket all adds up and (in my case) is still a bit long. I will be looking at removing the chuck and fabricating a special adaptor (unless Milwaukee bring out an option first) The LED illuminates the work area perfectly and the LED changes from white to red once the torque limit is reached. The torque setting seems to monitor the load current through the motor. If the motor is running at full chat, the momentum in the gear train means that the bolt ends up with a tighter torque than required. If run at low speed you get a repeatable torque setting and used like this it works well. The trigger is half way down the tool. If it was at the end of the tool (where the battery is, so difficult I know) you would not need to grip the tool so tightly. These are minor points, and I bought this tool after much internet research and I am still convinced that it is the best tool for the job and I am very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another smile! I'm a firm user of Milwaukee tools, and cannot be happier with my purchase. Paid for itself with the first use when I installed a new stereo system in my car. Good power, great ergonomics, battery lasts (wish it came with two though), great clutch too! Another great purchase from my favorite power tool brand.
