Answer:
I can't answer this absolutely, but I will say that the impact tool does very well at sinking over-sized screws in hardened wood, so I would believe that automotive sheet metal wouldn't prove overly challenging. I wish I could give you a better answer.

Answer:
Yes, it will readily handle cutting 2×4's.
As for battery consumption, that depends on:
Battery: Standard or XC
Blade selection
If user pushes the saw aggressively or lets the saw do the work.
I use the XC batteries and have experienced good battery life span as long as I don't get impatient, admittedly a personal challenge from time to time.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 146 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprising Performance I challenged the tool right out of the box to help me remove a stubborn outdoor deck bracket with hopelessly frozen mounting screws. As a long time owner of a contractor grade Fein Multi-master corded tool I was curious if this smaller cordless tool could handle this type of application. I mounted a well used Bosch carbide tip metal cutting blade from my Fein Toolbox and secured it for operation using the Milwaukee supplied adapter to fit most blades available from other similar tools. I was able to cleanly and quickly slice through the metal screws and remove the bracket without needing to drag out an extension cord. While the M12 is not for heavy duty use such as all day cutting jobs or those that require cutting heavy metal, this M12 tool is winner and a real value that belongs in DiYer's and homeowners toolboxes. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer beware! I have had 2 break in one month warranty repair is good but seems like it will be ongoing for rest of time owning. Both went same way barely used just stop working have all the other m12 tools and no problems. Hope they correct August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool I've used the drill in the past to drill a pilot hole, then swap the drill bit with the screw driver bit. This tool eliminates the need for a pilot hole. I have several M12 tools and pleased with them. March 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It works. It works. I have no complaints so far. It helps me save time a lot. March 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not too hot I have used this impact 4 different times and have had it for about two weeks. The very first time, I was not impressed at all. The bolts I had tightened with the impact, were still fairly easy to torque further with a ratchet and socket. Now, it already has something broken free inside and rolling around. Also, the forward and reverse slide switch is jammed. I plan on returning this item for my money back. I would not want another impact of this same model. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by high qualty tool. I have used many 18 volt impact drivers but this is byfar is the best 12 volt impact driver I have ever used. It is light weight and compact yet has the power of many of its 18 volt counterparts. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great addition to my tools This is a great tool. It's light weight and still powerfull enough to do most of my jobs. I just used it for 8 hours of driving drywall screws and other than a couple of battery changes ( to be expected) it performed like a champ. I have a larger impact driver but the size and weight of this one is ideal. I own several of this series tolls and would recommend them all. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It DOES exist! I always knew a tool like this had to exist. This tool is worth the money and its easy to use. In our brewery we use Type L up to 1" and this tool made fast clean cuts to lines spaced 1-1/2" apart. We use 1-5/8" deep strut to secure utilities and this tool was able to bite and cut secured lines, that is a HUGE time saver for me. The only time it ever jammed on me was when it encountered a blob of solder. other than that, it never gave me any grief. July 23, 2016
