How long is battery life?

This question is from M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless HACKZALL Reciprocating Saw Kit
June 12, 2016
We used this saw for cutting off queen palm tree fronds and seed pods today and had to stop to recharge the battery after cutting only five fronds and two pods. This was on the first charge out of the box and we had charged it overnight.

It did not take long at all to cut through these - two or three minutes each - and it wasn't like it was nonstop cutting because of having to stop and attack from a different angle and having to move the ladder to different trees - so we were really surprised that it did not last longer.

Does this sound like expected life to get out of this battery for this purpose (this would seem to be light usage compared to some applications) ? Does the battery take on more of a charge with subsequent charges ?

Answer:
I figured it out. You have to push the battery down into the charger rather forcefully before the lights come on.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 124 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Hackzall This saw was amazing, I could start a cut without a pilot hole, it was lighweight and easy to use and move around. The cordless hackzall is the way to go, you don't have to worry about cutting the cord in two pieces,(I've done this) and yhe battery after it is recharged seemed to last for a few hours, which was perfect. Thank You August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hackzall Tool work great just what i needed eazy to use got more job to forit great tool great price July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sweet I just used this to remove studs for an medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Did the job very well. I larger saw wouldn't have fit in the space. Great tool for the odd job. Very pleased with the performance. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great cordless hand saw This is my first cordless hand saw and my first Milwaukee tool. I'm usually loyal to DeWalt but I wasn't satisfied with their equivalent offering. This kit comes with the handsaw, battery, charger, blade, and a case for $129. All in all, I thought it was a good value especially since the tool itself costs $99. Easy to use and setup, I'd definitely recommend this kit to those folks with light uses of sawing. Great entry level introduction to Milwaukee overall and I'd be open to more tools that this battery is compatible with. May 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for all projects This hackzall is so lightweight, compact, and convenient I don't know how I went without it. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Handy I use this little saw for all kinds of finish work. Cutting wall standards for shelving that I install all over is a big one. The saw packs a lot of power is a small package. Easy to haul around the city with me being that it is about half the size as the band saw that most people have to lug around with them. It is not as fast as the band saw for a lot of cuts in a row but it is light years better than my hack saw that I bring as a backup plan. It can also make all kinds of different cuts that a band saw cant make. Ive used it to remove a section of drywall stud to stud with ease. It has enough control to cut in remodel boxes for electrical outlets and tough enough to cut through hardened steel. Yes a regular sawzall would work but this thing is ultra light weight and portable. It's small enough to haul around with you day to day and tough enough to get you out of a bind. Great tool.
