Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Toolnut102 Nice idea, but falls short
Great concept - one-handed operation. But impractical for anything but very lightweight work and short duration use. Cutting speed is slow and most importantly -- the vibration with this saw is ridiculous. The light weight of the unit, combined with the lack of a counterbalanced mechanism, results in excessive chattering and severe vibration when cutting all but the lightest of materials. For a comparable price, the Sawzall Hatchet cordless is a far better purchase, although much heavier and more difficult to use one-handed. While making cutouts in drywall is well within the capabilities of the Hackzall, there are better and more efficient ways to do that job (rotozip, etc.).
All in all, an interesting toy, and possibly suitable for "real" use, if the application is very lightweight cutting. If Milwaukee can put out a counterbalanced version, maybe 18V, with a longer stroke, then this could be an ideal tool. But it would then rival the size and weight of the existing Sawzall Hatchet.

I have owned both of these tools for 1 1/2 years. Drill trigger has become intermittent, (5-8 tries to go on, disassembled and super cleaned w/electronic spray cleaner to no avail.) Saw, after 6 months, began to cut out 3,4 times before it would stay on. I tried warming unit, new and charged battery, cleaning, etc. These are great little tools with limits, of course. I do plumbing remodel and the saw is Very handy, I am here because H/D is 43.00 cheaper than Amazon. However, even though both kits carry same Milwaukee # 2490-22, amazon kit has Two batteries. Pix in H/D shows 2 batteries, states 1 in description...Incidentally, If you have a battery that says canada in mfgr. countries, it will die very quickly; just take it back, whole kit if you have to.

are you kidding? i bought this set 4 months ago. both batteries are dead. this hacksaw is a great idea but it has no power at all, unless you are cutting small pvc pipe. it really doesnt have any value in the workplace what so ever. it vibrates something horrible and as i said, the batteries didnt last long at all. the one handed feature is a great concept but seriously , for this kind of money, just buy a dewalt 18v cordless and learn to use both hands.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TooLove Portability w/ power saved me time and frustration
I'm currently re-doing my bathroom and these two tools have been indispensable. The light weight and torque-adjust of the screwdriver has been perfect for hanging drywall. I used the saw to cut wood subfloor, copper pipes, steel pipe, and bathfitter plastic. I even cut 19/32" plywood with it after the Skillsaw circular saw I bought turned out to be a bust. There is nothing I threw at this little saw that it didn't handle like a champ. I'm surprised at the power considering it's cordless. Another review said that the saw will vibrate, but only if you don't have a good grasp on it and don't lean into it. This combo comes with 2 batteries, which is perfect because one charges while you use the other (in only 30min!!!). The battery charge in the screwdriver lasts forever, but the saw is a bit power-hungry with continuous use.

The Hackzall is super compact, the first time I tried it, I couldn't believe how much power it had packed into the small amount of space it took up! This piece of equipment feels as strong as an 18v sawzall I got several years ago..
The screwdriver is pretty sweet too, it's small and can fit in TIGHT spaces where a traditional drill would not be able to fit..
If your a handy person, flip houses, fix stuff around your house, work on properties, this is the tool kit for you.. The batteries are pretty sweet too, they charge fast and are small. Everything fits nicely with plenty of spare space inside the included heavy duty bag..
The 5 year coverage is pretty nice too..

I don't know who wrote the first few reviews. Must have been a Milwaukee rep. This sawzall can only be used on very light cutting( small PVC pipe, twigs, and such) anything else just grabs the blade and the saw stops. The battery is not strong enough to use on anything substantial. The screw gun is a nice little toy to use around the house. I bought this set and within 4 months both batteries tha came with it were unchargable. Buy a Dewalt . . Use both hands..

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RajaK A good combo for the man who wants every tool
If you have the M18 set, you're probably going to want an impact drill or screw driver. The screw driver is a little underpowered but its reliable especially if you are doing light impact work. It has a great comfortable grip and the battery lasts a long time. If you tend to do a lot of small scale cutting such as dowels in wood working or soft wood the Hackzall is a great tool. If you are trying to make very precise cuts in drywall this tool is outstanding. You can cut squares and circles in no time, something a two handed Sawzall cannot do as well.
