Does the XC battery allow tools to operate at higher torque?

I asked a similar question previously and I believe my meaning was misunderstood. Obviously a 4.0 Ah battery will have twice the energy storage capacity of a 2.0 Ah battery.

I'm interested in knowing if the XC batteries can discharge more electrical current at a higher rate than the compact batteries, resulting in a higher maximum power achieved for the tool using it. This should be possible because the XC batteries have more individual cells connected in parallel, and therefore can safely discharge current at a higher rate without overheating.

So if I buy a Milwaukee tool like the new M12 Circular saw and only have M12 2.0 Ah compact batteries, will the torque and power output be less than if I bought an M12 4.0 Ah XC battery? If this is the case, are the electronics regulating current draw located in the tool or in the battery? Are there certain M12 tools that utilize this capability, and some that don't?

Sorry for writing an essay with multiple questions, but all these factors can impact my buying decisions and how I'll use my tools, and I can't find a definitive answer anywhere.

Answer:
I tested this 4 Ah battery vs. the 1.5 Ah battery, and the answer appears to be YES. Tools I used were the M12 FUEL circular saw, and the M12 FUEL 1/4" impact driver. You can see more details in my review and attached video.

Answer:
The XC battery does not allow for tools to operate at higher torque. The tool will operate at it's maximum torque no matter which battery is being used. The XC battery allows for you to use the tool longer as your battery has a higher capacity.

Milwaukee offers a 2 or 3 year warranty on batteries, depending on the type. If you call their customer service number (1-800-SAWDUST), they should be able to give you a definitive answer.

I just bought a hackzall with a rounded base battery (2.0 ah?) and a charger. My question is, is XC 4 AH compatible with my charger & hackzall?

Answer:
Definitely, I found my hackzall lying in the roadway. It has the XC 4 AH battery in it, and works great! Good thing it's fully charged, since I don't yet own a charger. Finders keepers!

M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion XC 4 Ah Extended Capacity Battery is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from best purchase ever this drill/impact is amazing. i use this as an electrician. rather than have the extra weight of 18v on my tool belt i use these. self tapping screws no problem, half inch knock out on a panel no problem, installing one hole straps, mini's, they handle with a breeze. plenty of power. they feel to be made heavy duty. i will be buying more m12 tools for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mr Micho Best combo pack on the market for still having brushes. Tried the others, but grip and control are the best. I have the Rigid brand also. Tried the Dewalt and Makita. Milwaukee has better trigger control with the impact driver. Haven't use the drill much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting battery I have a couple of these for a drill, saw and multi tool. Very good battery life. It will power a tool full speed right to the very end of the charge unlike a NiCad battery which just gets slower and slower as it loses charge. it charges very fast - maybe 15 minutes or so. I just wish power tool manufacturers would standardize their battery size and connections so you can use a battery from one brand of tool with another brand. Sort of like the Alkaline batteries we have now, D, C, AA and AAA. These companies make proprietary batteries so you are tied in with the same brand for years. It would be nice if a consumer could mix up their tool collection a little.

I hadn't wanted cordless tools because they're always dead when I need them, but these hold a charge great when sitting in the closet. I've used them probably a dozen times for various jobs through the year, and the cordless convenience is great, they're powerful enough for everything I've thrown at them, and they feel very precise (speed control and power control). I think I've only had to charge them once so far - very happy and impressed with these. The torque control on the driver helps prevent stripped screws; the LED light is actually functional (slight delay before it turns off after letting go of the trigger) - and the tools feel solid and well built in the hand.
