Product Overview

Milwaukee delivers huge value with this bundle, providing a charger, case and two lithium-ion batteries for slightly more than you would pay for the tool alone. This offering includes a first-to-market 1/2 in. chuck size in a subcompact lithium-ion tool. Furthermore, the brushless 12-Volt POWERSTATE motor on this drill/driver is engineered to stay cooler and run longer than anything in its class, yet supplies ample power along with 2 speed settings and two application settings (drill/drive). The contoured handle enables firm command and control while the responsive variable-speed trigger reacts quickly in either speed mode (0-450 or 0-1700 RPM).

  • Includes (1) M12 FUEL 1/2 in. drill/driver, (1) M12 compact lithium-ion battery, (1) M12 extended capacity lithium-ion battery, (1) M12 charger, (1) carrying case and (1) reversible belt clip
  • 18-position clutch allows operators to adjust torque (maximum 350 in. lbs.)
  • Compatible with Milwaukee M12 batteries and chargers

Will this drill work with 3/8 inch bits?

Is it better to get a drill specifically for 3/8 bits? I don't see an M12 Fuel brushless cordless for 3/8 inch bits anywhere...
Asked by: gaiusgracchus
It will not only accept 3/8 bits, it will also accept 1/2 inch bits

What does brushless mean?

Asked by: Ellos
Most older DC and universal motors have carbon brushes that run on a segmented electric contactor to switch the magnet field in the rotor as the motor turns so that it always is providing torque in the correct direction. Brushless motor have a sensor to determine the rotor position and then electronically switch the magnetic field. The brushes spark and wear out over time so the brushless motors are more reliable. The other main difference is that the magnets in a brushless motor are on the rotor while the heat producing electric coils are on the outside where they can be more easily cooled. Therefore, it is possible to drive a brushless motor much harder and produce more torque with the same size motor without overheating. Go brushless and accept no substitute.

M12 FUEL 12-Volt Brushless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40.

This drill has everything I want. 1/2", small size, power, driver and clutch, etc..........except it has an excessive chuck run-out. Without this problem I would have easily given it a 5-star rating. It comes with a Jacobs chuck and is well known for its quality, but not in this case. With a drill bit attached, the tip of the bit wobbles about 1/16", which is way excessive for any attempt for precision drilling. Admittedly, this is a hand drill and cannot compare with the tight tolerance of a drill press, however 1/16" run-out is NOT acceptable.

I bought this as a gift for my son but I have had one for several years which I bought to replace a another brand with a 12 V battery that had a 3/8 inch chuck that no longer ran concentric. After considerably more use, the Milwaukee still runs great, has more power and a 1/2 inch chuck in a very lightweight compact package. I really like the Milwaukee Fuel products

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing but heavy duty! Just as it says, ”Nothing but heavy duty”. I couldn’t be more excited having this kit as part of my tools. Light weight, lots of torque and lots of speed, it’s like Bentley of the drills. The battery lasts quite a long time and charges a lot faster compared to all the other drills I have ever owned. Carrying case, belt clip, fuel gauge (indicating how much battery time left) and LED (illuminating the work surface) are impressively added features. Driving or drilling, it comes with 2 speed modes. Setting 1 is for slow speed and setting 2 makes it run like Ferrari, I love it. There are 9 different clutch settings allowing me to control the torque i.e. from 2 to 18, and the drill manual explains which setting is suitable in what situation. The battery charger indicates the charging status using Red/Green light indicator. When charging, it’s red; when charged, it’s green. No more guessing. Accompanied with extra battery pack is a fail-safe when working on a large project. Kit comes with 2 well-written operator’s manuals (one for drill and one for battery pack). Read both manuals before using the drill. Small or big task, it delivers when you demand. This drill is worth every penny that it costs. If you are planning to buy it, then do not walk; run to Home Depot! Go buy it, you will like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for all Electrician I'm an electrician in Canada here and I use my drill in a lot of cold areas and I've have it for over two months now and the drill performs in the coldest weather -35 C and it was still going hard with a full battery all day The drill performs beautifully just put on receptacle boxes and getting to places with also the adjustable speed and torque The all metal clutch came unscrewed a couple of times once you got it she just had given mixture of notch over and It stayed tight all day can't complain about the drill great drill way better than any Dewalt warm Mikita that I've ever used and I use them all up to here

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect drill for all jobs This drill is light weight with great torque and awesome speed. The best drill I have ever used. The battery lasts a long time and charges incredibly fast. Batteries come pretty much fully charged but I would recommend charging it completely before using it for the first time. Carrying case, fuel gauge and LED are impressive. Standing on a ladder and want to have both hands free? Simply slide the drill belt clip into your belt or pocket and free up your hands for other tasks. Driving or drilling, it has two speed modes. Setting 1 is for slow speed and setting 2 is for faster speed. There are 9 different clutch settings allowing you to customize the torque i.e. from 2 to 18. The bottom line is that this drill performs no matter what the task is. The battery charger indicates the charging status using Red/Green lights. The extra battery pack is a fail-safe when working on a large project. The Kit comes with 2 well-written operator’s manuals. Read both manuals before using the drill. This drill is worth every penny that it costs. Enjoy your Home Improvements without fear…you will tire before the drill does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Grip, Lightning Fast Battery Charge that lasts! A drill and stud finder are the two tools I use most frequently. I do my own home improvement, design my own little film sets and cat furniture, as well as re-purpose vintage items. Out of the Box: A Sturdy Case, a Drill, two Red Lithium batteries, a Charger, and Manuals for both the Battery charger and the Drill. Battery charging was incredibly fast. I blinked, it was done. I'm used to borrowing an older drill with a battery pack . It takes hours to charge. Two important features for someone with arthritis are a good grip and easy battery removal. It has one of the two. The grip is rubberized and the right size for smaller hands, as pictured. When I'm having an RA flare up it takes two hands to remove the battery pack. As a test. I did a temp install of a camera. It needed one cememt screw hole. Although this isn't the right tool for drilling cement, it did the job. The next day I put together some wood parts to repurpose a round oak table with the same charged battery. Then, I let my drill sit for several days. Today, it's still powered and drilling holes. Before hurricane Katrina I installed plywood on the house windows, almost entirely myself. After the storm we had about 5 days without electricity. I was too tired to unscrew the cememt screws by hand. As for my other cordless drill I borrowed, the battery never held a charge that long. I purchased wing tipped nuts for cement screws after that. I don't want to be trapped a week in a boarded up house again. I've many questions about Lithium Battery Safety, Milwaukee's last recall was in 2007. They give a technical explanation of their Red Lithium battery at ToolSelect Tv on youtube. It explains what can go wrong, but they offer a 2-3 yr battery warranty. With that fact and the longer motor life of a Feul brushless motor, I'm hoping for longevity and many years of designs with this drill! There is a small light in the front of the drill which was helpful at dusk. The clip can hold a small paper for measurements or whatever. I found the indicator lights on the battery charger helpful. In a comparative review by a Popular magazine, the M12 Feul ranked as the best overall purchase from a group of major brands. I'm loving it! Need some red nail polish to match!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stronger than other 18V tools I use the 18V cordless drill/driver from makita but it hasn"t a chance against the M12fuel drill/driver from Milwaukee. The metal chuck is very nice for a 12 Volt drill/Driver.
