Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by thebighash Compact but Powerful!
The Milwaukee 18V 1/4" Impact Driver is really Compact but still very Powerful.
This tool is well designed and fits well in the hand. The motor is powerful and "torquey". The 1/4" chuck is suitable for all kinds of bits available in the market. There are no separate torque or speed adjustments like the other more advanced & bulkier models but that shouldn't be a problem for most applications and for DIY projects. Of course you can still control the speed through the trigger. Needless to mention that there is a control switch to select the direction of rotation, with a center position that locks the trigger.
The driver comes with a bright white LED light that goes ON when in use and switches OFF a few seconds later, which is very useful in tight & dark locations. It also comes with a belt clip.
Battery life is very good keeping in mind that this comes with the two Compact batteries. There are larger M18 batteries available if needed but I prefer the two Compact batteries as that makes the tool lighter and you can always keep the spare battery charged & ready to go. I helped a relative put together a small sheet-metal shed and drove dozens of screws on a single charge with no problems. The batteries also come with an LED fuel gauge that shows how much charge is remaining when you press the small round button. A very useful feature.
The battery charger is bulky but also includes some great features and different indication lights for different conditions (charging, battery full, battery too hot, battery faulty etc). You will find this charger more useful when you have multiple Milwaukee M18 tools.
The kit comes in the usual Milwaukee bright red heavy duty carry case that fits everything nicely. The case if also pad-lockable.
I posted some pics of the tool, the case, and also pics that show the dimensions and a comparison with my 3-year old 20V Black & Decker Matrix Drill/Driver kit. It may not be direct competition between the two but it helps you put things in perspective. The Milwaukee is about as strong as the 20V B&D while being smaller, and also has some nice features such as the LED light, fuel gauge, belt clip & carry case that are not available on my B&D.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FixitDave Excellent Impact.
I work in aviation, lots of times I have to remove and install panels held in place by threaded fasteners. The M18 impact has performed flawlessly for me in my work, although you cannot change the torque setting, it has plenty of torque to remove the most stubborn, corroded fasteners I've seen. With practice, I've had few problems with over-torquing when putting new screws back in. The battery life is outstanding, I can go about a week before I have to recharge, and the battery is fully charged in a mere couple of hours. It even works great with a Makita drill chuck & some cobalt bits for drilling off the heads of steel and titatium fasteners. A+++ product!

I live and work in Alaska under all conditions this driver out did any other driver on the job.
I worked a major construction winter project where temp were sub zero most of the time and Milwaukee's M-18 worked flawlessly. At 40 below there is a slight slow down until the tool warms up after using it for a few moments it is fine.
I had to buy a new one since the old one wore out from two years of heavy use of year round deck building.
